After the attacks on Paris, the hashtag #TerrorismHasNoReligion spread around twitter. But, looking into this hashtag, it is evident that the majority of people do not agree. Anti-Islamic groups blame all the Muslims, failing to recognize that ISIS does not represent Islam.
Would you blame the entire Christian faith for the Holocaust, Charleston Church Shootings, school shootings, movie theatre shootings, Holocaust memorial shootings, etc.—which were done by followers of the Christian faith? NO!
Muslims do NOT support ISIS. The millions of refugees in Europe are the ones who are FLEEING from the same terror-related incidents in the Middle East. Islam itself promotes peace, not violence. ISIS is using the name of Islam to justify what they are doing, but Islam does not support this.
Muslims all over the world are completely outraged by ISIS, and are trying to hard to prove to the world that one extremist group does not represent their entire faith. Since 9/11 there have been more hate crimes against innocent Muslims than actual deaths that resulted from 9/11.
Only 2% of terrorist attacks are done in the “name of Islam” so generalizing that Muslims are always behind terrorist attacks is a completely false and untrue statement. Our world is plagued by xenophobia and racism even in the year of 2015.
Not only should you pray for the lives lost in the ISIS attacks against Paris, but you should pray for the millions of innocent Muslims around the world who will face racism because ignorant people blame muslims for terrorism and not ISIS.
Times magazine came out with an article with the headline, “ISIS Is Not Just Un-Islamic, It Is Anti-Islamic.” Islam does not stand for ISIS, and ISIS does not even represent Islam. ISIS targets and kills Muslims too! Do not refer to ISIS as “jihadists” or as an “Islamic State”, as that is completely untrue and blasphemy. Using words like that promotes the idea that ISIS is part of the Islamic faith, which it is not.
Islam does allow self defense. This is true, but it does not allow the killing of “noncombatants in war or conflict.” The Times pointed to a text in Quaran, “Indeed God does not love those who are aggressors,” (The Quran, 2:190). Extremist Muslims are CRIMINALS, and are not true followers of the Islamic faith.
ISIS does not represent ISLAM, and promotes injustice, cruelty and simple terrorism. Terrorism has NO religion.
