2015-08-21-1440166916-8214837-Netflix_1Whether you’re partying all night or going on lengthy road trips, there’s always a day you want some space to yourself for relaxation. Netflix has given us the opportunity to re-watch our favorite shows but it has also given us the opportunity to watch new ones. There are plenty of gems to pick from but I picked a few for you that I can assure you will enjoy.

5. The Returned

The Returned is an American adaptation of the french series, Les Revenants. The plot consists of people in a small town and how their lives are disrupted when their loved ones start rising from the dead. The show focuses on a different character’s story every episode. Each character is very dynamic in their own way and the episodes unfold their past and all the secrets they are holding. Although it is only ten episodes long, it is a must watch if you enjoy supernatural shows.

4. Hart of Dixie

Hart of Dixie follows a New York doctor that inherits a practice in the fictional small town Bluebell, Alabama. It shows how she adapts to life in Bluebell and how Bluebell adapts to her. Both her and the town are not used to changes but sometimes change is good. She meets people who will change her life forever but will it be enough for her to put down roots and leave behind her life in New York? Similar to shows like Gossip Girl or 90210 but unlike them, it’s quite a hidden gem.

3. New Girl

After breaking up with her longtime boyfriend, Jessica Day decides it’s time for a change. She moves into a loft with three single guys who teach her how the real world works. They are skeptical about having a woman move in with them but grow to love her. She brings quirkiness and sunshine to the loft. She also brings around her friend CeCe who is figuring out her life outside being a model, she wants to grow as a person and possibly find love. This show is perfect for lifting up your mood as you can’t possibly watch an episode without laughing.

2. The Originals

A spinoff of The Vampire Diaries, The Originals follows the lives of the Mikaelson siblings as they move back to New Orleans, a city they built from scratch over a hundred years ago. They are the original vampires and have lived for over a thousand years, in which they made more than a couple enemies. During their return they make new allies and together they prepare to face these  old foes. This show has a much darker plot than TVD, but it also shows the meaning of trust, loyalty, and family. It might not seem so, but there are quite a few tear jerking moments in this series.

1. Grey’s Anatomy

There couldn’t possibly be a list of shows to watch without a Shondaland series. This show follows the life of many doctors in a top hospital in Seattle. Not only does it show how these doctors prepare and compete for medical cases; It shows how their lives are affected by their jobs and the people they share the hospital with. They might not always like each other, or have the easiest lives, but at the end of the day they are family. They go through tragedies throughout the show that toughen them as humans and as doctors. This prepares them to keep teaching the interns to come. It is a very long show and you cannot possibly watch this series without crying at least thrice and that’s exactly why you need to watch it.
