Makeup Tips: Inexpensive Ways To Clean Your Brushes

We all know that time when our brushes look gross, and need to be washed. Yes, the process is long and it hurts you almost physically, but here are ways to save your bank account or wallet from hurting! Here are cheap ways to clean your brushes!

1. This laundry soap is my favorite way to clean my brushes! It’s super easy and I feel like this is the most inexpensive way. You can find this in any drugstore, Walmart or Target in the laundry aisle for 99¢! The scent may linger on your brushes, but that’s the only down side to it if you don’t like the scent. It doesn’t make the hairs of my brushes fall off which is amazing! One bar can last you for a long time! I definitely recommend this.image

2. Have you ever thought that maybe your face wash can wash away not only the dirt and makeup off your face, but also from your brushes? The Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser works great for your makeup brushes or your Beauty Blender! You squeeze a little on your brush or sponge, then swirl it around on your palm like a regular makeup brush cleaner! Not as easy and fast as the Pink Zote bar, but this works too.

3. Do you have a baby in your house who uses baby shampoo? You can also use that to clean your brushes! You might waste more of this product because it isn’t as easy as the other two that was mentioned, but it can also be used to be cleaned! You can mix the baby shampoo and the Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser for it to clean quicker and easier.image
4. This has got to be the most popular one, and everyone and their mothers know about this, but it’s dish washing soap and (extra) olive (virgin) oil. Any brand would work for both, but it works wonders! Put dish washing soap on a paper plate on one side and the olive oil on the other. Dip your brushes on each side and clean it as much as possible. The olive oil is for your brushes to get back moisture after getting cleaned so the hairs don’t fall off, while the dish washing soap deep cleans it.

5. This last one isn’t actually deep cleaning like the other 4, this one is only for spot cleaning. If you’re in a rush and need to clean your brushes on the spot without it needing to dry, or if you’re a makeup artist and you need to do a lot of people’s makeup but not enough brushes, this product is for you! You spray it on your brushes and swirl it around your paper towel and voila! It’s clean and dry! You don’t have to wait for it to dry.

These are great for cleaning your brushes in an expensive way! These can all be bought at Target, Walmart, or the drugstore other than the Dry Clean brush, which can be purchased at Sephora.
