Why are You Still Voting for a Man With a Sexism Tracker?

There are many reasons I rarely go on Facebook anymore. The main one is the fact that I’m friends with way too many Trump supporters. Every time I open Facebook, I’m hit with nonsense about why Hillary’s email-gate spells doom for our society, but a man that says he can grab a woman “by the pussy,” because he is famous, is somehow fit enough to represent the United States of America. The shared articles by my Trump supporting friends are actually comical. I can’t fathom how people can’t grasp the fact that our society is very complex, and the only sources of our problems aren’t illegal Mexicans or ISIS.

As I was scrolling down my news feed, I ran across the latest reason from the ever growing list of reasons not to vote for Trump. It was a Telegraph article entitled “Donald Trump Sexism Tracker: Every Offensive Comment in One Place”. What was even more alarming was the comments under that article of people saying things along the lines of ‘Is there anything on Hillary?’ or ‘Why are these women coming out now and didn’t do so years ago?’ or ‘The media is paid for by crooked Hillary and her liberals and isn’t trustworthy.’

Don’t get me wrong, I definitely have beef with Hillary, but having a sexist and absolutely tactless person for president sends shivers down my spine. Women are already scared to speak out about sexual assault. A study conducted by RAINN.org found that two out of three sexual assault cases will go unreported. That means about 66.67% of sexual assault cases go unreported, and if we have a president that unashamedly makes sexually aggressive comments towards women, do you think that percentage will rise or fall? I place money on the fact that it will rise, exponentially.

Trump and his supporters brushed his comments off as locker room banter, but can someone please tell me what sport Donald Trump plays to know what happens in a locker room? Any woman that dares to report a sexual assault will have to live with the fact that if the commander-in-chief can get away with sexually aggressive comments as well as alleged sexual assault, how much more a measly teenage/twenty-something nobody. As a woman, that is so scary.

What is even more scary is the fact that a Presidential Candidate actually has a sexism tracker? His degrading comments and actions have turned into somewhat of a joke. This tracker has Trump’s incidents of sexism dating from 1990 to a couple weeks ago. This man has not and will not change his words or actions. It makes me wonder how he got so far in life with such a nasty, entitled, and disrespectful attitude. Oh, that’s right, he is a rich spoiled brat whose businesses were bailed out by the bank four times.

His supporters seem to think saying that rappers write songs with degrading lyrics towards women makes it okay for Trump to make degrading comments towards women too.

  1. These said rappers are not running to be the President of the United States! No matter how you want to spin it, Presidential hopefuls are held to a different standard than say, Gucci Mane or Kanye West.
  2. Sexually degrading comments are not acceptable regardless of who says them. Yes, we might bump to the beat of a rapper bragging about how many hoes he’s slept with, but rapping about having consensual intercourse with a woman with a big booty is different from a presidential hopeful that wants to be elected as the face of the free world wanting force himself onto a woman and grab her by the pussy. Yes, there are many issues on the ballot, but shouldn’t we elect someone that has enough common sense to not say he wants to grab a woman by the pussy? He’s never held an elected position, but thank God he’s run corporations that have filed for bankruptcy multiple times, isn’t politically correct (even though his followers confuse being a demon made by the politically correct left and trying to be a decent, empathetic human being mixed up), and can appeal to the working class even though he’s never known anything but luxury his whole life!

Yes neither candidate is perfect, and I will definitely be writing about the beef I have with Hillary Clinton, but Trump needs the vote of women in order to win this election. Why would any woman want to vote for a man that brags about forcing himself onto another woman?  Why would you want to send a message to your daughters that it’s okay to be spoken to like that, and the message to your sons that it’s okay to speak to and treat women with such disregard and disrespect? How can we “Make America Great Again” when we have a man that thinks all women are worth nothing if they aren’t up to Trump’s standards of beauty, the are gold-diggers, they are only placed on earth to satisfy their husbands, and makes incest jokes?

We run multimillion dollar campaigns trying to tell girls that their worth is not tied to their beauty, that they are capable of doing anything they set their minds to, and that they need to speak up for themselves and feel empowered, yet we want to put a man that can’t seem to stop putting women down and rating women on a scale of one-to-ten in the highest office in America? On what planet does that make sense?
