It Should’ve Been Bernie: Hillary is to Blame for Trump’s Election

Yes, you read the title right, Hillary Clinton literally lost the presidential race because of her own doings. Her lies and corruption that were uncovered by the various email leaks had been going against her since the beginning of this election season. She unfairly won the DNC primary against Bernie Sanders, the Wikileaks giving evidence of her rigging and illegal coordination with Super PACs.

Even Donald Trump knew this, shown in this tweet where he hints at the rigging against Sanders:

Exit poll data from the Democratic Primary clearly shows that Sanders would have won several states that Clinton didn’t get ahold of in the final election. He was favored among marginalized groups, the lower class, and independents (just as Trump was in the Republican Primary); all of which Clinton struggled with because of her track record. If Sanders was the nominee, he would’ve had independent and democratic votes, which would have soared him in front of Trump.

Many people on Twitter advocated for everyone to vote for Clinton instead of third party to not “split the vote”, but she already did that herself when she stole the nominee from Sanders.

Apart from the extremely racist, homophobic, and misogynistic Trump supporters, many of them didn’t like anything about him except that he was going to change the system, many of whom supported Sanders before he didn’t get the nominee. Many of Sanders supporters who wanted a change to occur, that Clinton didn’t promise, jumped ship from the Democratic party and went to Trump because of that sole reason.

The political strategy of the “black vote” was also a major factor in Clinton’s loss and something that Sanders would’ve had in the bag if he was nominated. The Black community has many reasons to distrust the Clinton family, considering it was Bill Clinton’s 1994 crime bill that fed the mass incarceration of people of color, which Hillary strongly campaigned for.

“They are not just gangs of kids anymore,” she said. “They are often the kinds of kids that are called ‘super-predators.’ No conscience, no empathy. We can talk about why they ended up that way, but first we have to bring them to heel.”

While they both have stated their regret, the Black community was justifiably hesitant in fully supporting her, especially after her “All Lives Matter” usage at the Christ the King United Church of Christ, which has a predominately black population, in June 2015.

Sanders had easily got the support of the Black community because he was a known Black Lives Matter supporter and had been taking part in the civil rights movement since the 1960s. Photos of him getting arrested in 1963 after protesting segregation were brought to light, which further influenced a majority of the Black community to gain trust for him and ultimately vote for him. He wasn’t just changing his views to manipulate their votes, he seemed genuinely concerned for Black Americans, unlike Clinton with her hypocrisy.

The nomination of Clinton caused many black voters to vote third party or not even vote at all.

With overwhelming support online and in the polls, it was clear who millennials, democrats, and independents wanted as their Democratic nominee and even president: Bernie Sanders. But, Hillary Clinton was selfish and used her connections in the DNC to take that away from millions of Americans. She knew what was happening and couldn’t sacrifice herself for the well being of America. The sad part is that it might’ve worked if it had stayed hidden, but Wikileaks exposed her wrongdoings and caused an upset that drastically shifted many demographics’ votes. In the end, Hillary Clinton was the cause of her own demise.
