This past year, all we heard was that Hillary Clinton would have a clean sweep, and Donald Trump would have no chance of winning.
The impossible happened.
The past few days have been nothing but fear. After Trump’s win, more and more white supremacists have taken the streets, calling out every minority possible, making people feel unsafe, even on college campuses.
Although that may be our reality, are we really going to let hate win?
Yes, we do not know what Donald Trump is capable of, since he has never been a politician before, but that does not mean we should just flee the country. If people just leave, that is just showing America is not strong.
We as humans all have rights, and we must fight to retain those rights.
We must show Congress that they do not have a say in what our healthcare options should be, unless they are experiencing it themselves.
We must show Trump that what makes America great is how diverse the country is. If he attempts to deport everyone, there goes most of America’s population.
Everyone must stick together and show how strong America can be. Being divided will not get us anywhere. Yet if we work together, so much can be done.
To the people say they aren’t affected by this, you are. What the Donald Trump administration may do has consequences for everyone. But if you still feel that this does not apply to you, do it for the children who are scared because their parents might get deported.
Do it for the teens out there who are afraid of coming to terms with who they are, because they may lose their rights to marry who they want and be discriminated for who they are.
Do it for the African- American teens, being told to go back to Africa and increase in being attacked, just for their skin tone.
Do it for the Muslim population, whose parents tell them not to wear their hijab, just so they won’t have to deal with the hatred that may come from others.
In the end, do it for the sake of America, because no one should be living in fear.
