Introducing The Next Generation Of Leaders And Thinkers

The Devil You Don’t Know is Way Worse Than the Devil You Do Know

The devil we all know — yes, Donald Trump — is the new President-elect of the United States. This is the man who essentially had no real ladder to climb in the way of economics and the first reality star to be elected president. This is the man who thought it was appropriate for men to sexually assault women and who mocked a disabled reporter. The voting results prove that now, more than ever, there is a huge misunderstanding between teens and adults. The vast majority of the millennial vote happened to be for Clinton, but of course, it doesn’t matter. On the bright side, the future generation of voters seems more involved in politics than ever before, most likely because they are scared of their own president.

This is the same man who is accused of fraud, rape, and racism who is now America’s President-elect. Yes, this will strongly impact the rest of us and investors are baffled because no one has any idea what they are investing in at this point. Does Donald Trump himself even know what he has invested in at this point?

Who knows? Most of us find it hard to believe that he will last as president for a full term, or that he may be assassinated. Casually, society has high hopes that the president will be assassinated. Let that sink in.

So, who is the devil we don’t know? Trump’s triumph isn’t a complete shock – because again, there is a huge disconnection between who is allowed to vote and who isn’t. Clinton’s campaign seemed to enhance the freedom of gay rights, trans rights, women’s rights, and immigration rights. All intriguing to young voters who can be categorized within those categories. Then there are the others – the older generation… the ‘wiser’ generation. These voters saw Trump as a brilliant leader, grew up in a time where privilege, blurred gender rules and homosexuality were simply frowned upon. This is the same generation that never had to get degrees in arts and fashions and believed that these past eight economic booming years simply weren’t great. Knowledge is power, ignorance is blissed.

That is referring to the land of utter dystopia in George Orwell’s 1984. A land where ‘Freedom is Slavery’. So, back to the devil we don’t know… the elephant in the room. Mike Pence. The what’s to come of all this? The ‘am I safe in America?’ Mike Pence is the man selected to be Trump’s VP, and the man with a controversial stance on gay rights. The Religious Freedom Restoration Act he signed allowed businesses to refuse over religious beliefs. He said that gay marriage represents the “deterioration of a family” and “societal collapse”. In 2010 he supported the military policy or not allowing soldiers to be openly gay. And in March, he signed in a law banning women in Indiana from having an abortion if her child is born with a disability. He also seems rather repetitive to tell people he is a born again Christian, which is also ironic, because it seems rather difficult to walk with god while holding hands with the devil. He is a literal poster-boy for the old fashioned conservatives. We all know what that means.

Then there is the devil that we seem to never want to point the finger to – and that is ourselves. America voted for this all to happen, and if they didn’t vote at all, they still increased the chances. This transition, similar to Brexit, shook society tremendously. Post-Brexit, hate crimes in the UK exceeded 41%. Another fulfilling prophecy. Americans are more filled with hatred towards one another than anyone ever thought, and the crucial split between them now is only going to cause more chaos. All in all, most people claim that the greatest trick the devil has ever played is convincing the world that there was only one of him.

In the wise words of Oscar Wilde, “we are each our own devil, and we make this world our hell.” It isn’t Trump who has the power to completely ruin America, since Americans gave it to him in the first place. That place of utter dystopia does exist, and is unravelled by society – not the man who can’t relate to the any social class but the elitists; Donald Trump.
