Introducing The Next Generation Of Leaders And Thinkers

Why Actor/Director Piques Is NOT Relatable

Jon Paul Piques is a Canadian actor and director and, apparently, a “relatable” internet celebrity. On Nov. 15, 2016 he posted a video to his Twitter called, “HOW TO SCARE YOUR LATINO FRIENDS!” with a laughing emoji.

News flash Piques, it’s not funny.

While the post Piques made is a month and a few days old, I had never seen it on my timeline but when I watched it, you better believe my Mexican self was relied up and ready to rant.

The first scene of the video is showing how there’s one slice of pizza left and there’s a white male and Mexican male going towards it but the while male threatens the Mexican with calling Donald Trump. We have all heard “I’m deporting 11 million immigrants” come out of President-elect Donald Trump’s mouth. Is it really necessary to post a video like that, just hyping the white people of the United States more?

It continues on to other scenes in which he just keeps “jokingly” threatening to call Donald Trump on his friends. While the video does have 654 retweets and 1,267 likes, the comments under the video are angry Twitter users

Piques is “known” online for his “relatable” content that looks like a 15-year-old is posting, instead of a grown man. While there is some content that I find funny, it turns out it is just stolen content from other users.

Just looking at the dates of the tweets is enough for you to realize none of his content is actually HIS.

Coming from a Mexican 17 year old girl, I do not find his post relatable or funny. It’s ignorant.
