The Presidential Cabinet. The very people who are given the task of advising the President and enforcing the laws of the land. Most Presidents tend to include people who are qualified for their position and who will make sure to devote their time for their position however Donald Trump’s cabinet is an utter disgrace to this nation and mirrors his lack of care and dedication to the United States of America.
Starting with Rex Tillerson, the man who is so heavily connected to Russia he once was awarded the Order of Friendship, is being nominated for Secretary of State. Tillerson fought heavily in 2014 to lift U.S sanctions on Russia. Tillerson has all the experience in making deals that benefit his wallet but never the American people. How can such a man be even considered to advise the President on foreign affairs?
Another person that is full of controversy is Betsy DeVos. The woman being nominated for Secretary of Education has held zero experience in public schools. Her family has put millions into the GOP in order to fund more charter schools, some of which have some of the lowest grades in the state of Michigan. During her confirmation hearing she was asked if she believed guns should be allowed in school where she claimed that it should be left up to the state in case there are grizzly bears. Yes, you heard correctly grizzly bears. If this isn’t enough she couldn’t even distinguish the difference between growth and proficiency when asked by Senator Franken at her confirmation hearing. If by any chance you still need more proof that she is not qualified to be the Secretary of Education, just watch her confirmation hearing.
Jeff Sessions, a senator from Alabama, is nominated for Attorney General. He was once nominated to be a federal judge however was rejected due to the fact that he said that the ACLU and NAACP were “unamerican” and according to other testimonies he had made jokes about the K.K.K and said the n word several occasions. It does not end there though, he claimed that he wasn’t sure if grabbing a woman by her genitalia is considered sexual assault. Jeff Sessions, the man being nominated as the “people’s lawyer” has consistently shown that he can not stand for minorities or women and should not even be considered to have such a powerful position.
These are only three people who are being nominated for Trumps cabinet. This does not even include the fact that this is the first time a Hispanic hasn’t been nominated for a cabinet position since 1988, or that the secretary of defense once said that “it’s fun to shoot people.” This article doesn’t even scratch the surface of how direful the Trump administration will be, but it does show how we have to work together to stop these people from handling our future. The best thing you can do is contact your senators here and let them know that they should stand with their constituents and not allow these people to disgrace our beloved nation.
