Introducing The Next Generation Of Leaders And Thinkers

Texas Teens Are Coming Together to Support Their Muslim Community

As we all know, Donald Trump’s entire campaign was centered around hatred and bigotry. When he won the presidential election through the Electoral College, many of us could already see the progress that was made in the past eight years, go down the drain.

While Muslims aren’t the only group of minorities who are being targeted, the recent Muslim Ban has highlighted the current administration’s negative feeling towards these individuals.

In honor of National Hijab Day, Aadil Jeenah, a senior at Plano Senior High School, pioneered an effort to combat the hatred that was being spread in order to bring peace and solidarity to his campus.

Given the controversy of the issue, the school’s administration has advised Jeenah and his friends to hold off. However, they also contended that they wouldn’t stop Jeenah as long as it was peaceful

The support so far has been pretty amazing

For those who don’t have traditional clothes can also show their support by wearing pins or bringing signs that promote peace and unity!

Students from all different backgrounds are coming together in order to establish a sense on communion on campus. #PSHSCoexisting is being used on twitter for students to show their support and pride for being a part of such a large movement.

Teachers are also chiming in to support the cause!

The truth is, bringing change to such a large issue is only possible if we work our way up from the local level. History has taught us that banning individuals based on their nationality only serves to bring harm and turmoil.

National Security is not risk here. The innocent lives of families and students who simply try to live their lives are the ones who are being affected.

If we don’t step up and voice our opinions, we are going to have a massive issue on our hands that we don’t know how to deal with. Exclusion and avoidance is never the solution to any problem. America is at a massive split right now and we need each other’s back more than ever before.

Join us in the fight against this inhumane exclusion and together, we will support our brothers and sisters through this difficult time.
