The People Strike Back Against Trump

The past three weeks have been a roller coaster of a ride as Donald J. Trump has assimilated into his role as our 45th president. Ever since his inauguration there have been a series of protests targeting Trump, with the Women’s March and then the travel ban protests, both to voice the popular displeasure the people have of the Trump administration so far.

The people have realized that their collective voices and protests are making a mark on our politics and daily lives and are trying to voice their displeasure with our president and have used the method of peaceful protests. With his numerous executive orders and his not so great cabinet member appointees, a new type of protest has been scheduled for today  Friday, Feb. 17 as the people once again take to the streets voice their opposition.

After the success of the travel ban protest and the subsequent ninth circuit judges decision to not reinstate the ban that prohibited travel from seven Muslim majority countries, the people now have the proof that their peaceful protests are being heard and are having a powerful effect in the political world.

Now the people are taking their protest to the next level and propose a national strike; to hold economic power over our government as well, with “rallies and actions being organized in cities across the country including Los Angeles, New York, Portland, Phoenix, Tucson, Philadelphia, San Diego, Madison, Denver, Eugene, St. Louis, Salt Lake City, Chicago, and San Francisco.” The purpose of this strike is to strike a chord deep in the workings of this government to show that the PEOPLE are the ones who hold the real power.

If you want to effect change take part in this “stay home from work (if they can afford to), school (if they can), and to not purchase anything within reason
