Introducing The Next Generation Of Leaders And Thinkers

A Look At Cole Sprouse’s Problematic Past

It’s no secret to anyone who knows me, I  really liked Cole Sprouse but I am also a firm believer in calling out your faves on their bullshit. Recently, it has come out that the seemingly woke Sprouse twin is actually as problematic as they come.

He believes in reverse racism and has used MLK to attempt and justify his beliefs. He’s stated, “ One doesn’t need to be in the position of power to be racist…of course white men have the most power, i never said they didn’t , does that mean i’ll allow ethnocentric racism directed towards me? No… turn to the teaching of MLK jr. and i’m sure he’ll be in agreement” This pseudo intellectual tone is the epitome of white privilege. As a white man not only does he not have right to define racism but to use a prominent Black activist in attempt to validate his ignorance is truly disgusting.

In order to defend his belief in reverse racism, he plays the ethnocentrism card. He claims that “racism has no prerequisites” and that those who say that POC cannot be racist against white people are being ethnocentrist.

However the most concerning thing that has come out of all of this are the abuse allegations from his ex girlfriend. This is her tumblr, she posts and retweets a lot of things regarding emotional abuse and trauma due to relationships. One of the most confirming things is that when an anon told her that everyone who knows Cole personally thinks he’s a great guy she replied by saying that when Amber Heard came out about her abuse no one believed her either. Here she speaks more on how Johnny Depp and Cole Sprouse and their fans use their celebrity status to excuse their abusive behavior. Looking through here tumblr posts and replies to questions it is very obvious that Cole was very abusive and manipulative during their 3 year relationship.

He also posted a pretty sketchy tweet about abuse, which reads “ Don’t become so jaded by abuse that your opposition becomes abusive”. This statement holds strong victim blaming sentiment and sounds like he is claiming that by speaking out about abuse one is being abusive.

Of course no one is perfect but perpetuating racism and abuse are things that should be called out. I urge people to do their own research and come to their own conclusions, and keep in mind just because you’re a fan of someone that does not make their behavior excusable.
