It’s no surprise when you find a YouTuber and they happen to either not support the LGBTQ+ community, or rarely stand up for LGBTQ+ people. As a celebrity, you should use your social media platforms as a way to spread awareness and some hot pictures of yourself, right? You can’t only post pictures of yourself, can you?
Whether you like it or not, there will always be those homophobic jerks in the corner, but you can always ignore them and watch a cute gay couple or a pretty transgender woman do their makeup or answer questions. It’s best to procrastinate and avoid when it comes to the bigots.
Here are YouTubers that are either aware or are a part of the LGBTQ+ community:
- SUP3RFRUIT: They have a weird name, and they’re also two gay boys from Arlington, Texas that have won three Grammy’s and have had their albums from their acapella group, Pentatonix, go multi-platinum. They’re talented, hilarious and use their social media platforms for good. They usually collaborate with people, answer questions or attempt to do some fun challenges. They’re both equally adorable and have always etched a smile on my face.
- Stef Sanjati: She’s trans, she’s proud, she’s brave and she’s beautiful! Stef is a wonderful woman that has recently undergone a surgery to make her face more feminine: how she wants it. She tells stories about it sometimes. She uses her media platforms one hundred percent of the time for good.
- Tyler Oakley: No, don’t think of an oak tree. He is not nearly as tall as a tree, being only 5’3″. Tyler dyes his hair a lot and it’s hard not to smile or laugh during any of his videos. He is definitely aware of the orange living in the white house right now and he’s very opinionated about it, constantly tweeting about how against Trump he is. So if you’re a Republican then I suggest you stay away from Tyler, although you shouldn’t be if you’re reading Affinity Magazine.
If you ever need to clear your head or just laugh a little, I recommend one of these channels. They aren’t problematic and they’re super kind. If you were to ever meet one of them, then you’d definitely need to get a picture because it will be absolutely amazing and memorable day. If you already watch one or more of these people, then hit up some other YouTubers I didn’t mention in here, like Joey Graceffa, Shane Dawson, Colleen Ballinger, or just do some research around the people you already watch to see if they’re aware. Good luck.
