Thousands Evacuated as Deadly Cyclone Is Expected To Hit Australia

25,000 people have been told to evacuate their homes as a cyclone moves towards Queensland, Australia. The cyclone is carrying winds of up to 275km/h. Cyclone Debbie is a category 4 cyclone and will make land fall on Tuesday at 7:00 local time.

Some People have refused to leave their homes even after Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk urged people in low lying lands to immediately find safer ground. The cyclone will raise the tide an additional 4 metres. The cyclone will cause flooding especially around the area of Mackay.

“I am just pleading to everyone, please, listen to authorities, I do, you must as well. This is about your safety, it is about the safety of your family and the safety of your children.” Palaszczuk pleaded.

Police have confirmed that the weather caused a woman to die in a car crash recently. Queensland authorities have closed 108 schools and 82 education centres. Also all flights to Townsville airport and Mackay airport have been cancelled.
