Introducing The Next Generation Of Leaders And Thinkers

Why Impeaching Trump Is Dangerous

As Trump’s number of days in office rise, so does the talk of his impeachment. Claims and evidence involving his ties to Russia and accusations of him sexually harassing women have sparked an interest within the American people. Not only that, but recent bills that he has proposed such as the Muslim Ban or ones that have actually passed such as the refusal of transgender people to use their preferred bathrooms, have been controversial. Though there seems to be a chance of him getting impeached, the question stands, would it be an entirely good thing?

The first step is considering who will enter the office and what their views are, this being Mike Pence, the current Vice President. It is noticeable that Donald Trump and Mike Pence have similar views on most every subject. For example, they are both Pro-Life, against planned parenthood, and are discriminatory towards other religions and races. The only difference is that Pence has a more directly radical history in the anti-LGBTQ spectrum. Many know that Pence has not only voted against LGBTQ rights, something that Trump has no history of doing, but he also is in support of conversion therapy. This being said, there wouldn’t be much change in the speeches or conferences.

The next step is considering if Pence would actually be able to pass a bill that puts minorities or our environment in danger. Recently, Trump has proposed 5 bills that have made large news coverage: “The Travel Ban” (better known as “The Muslim Ban”), “The Wall”, the “Bathroom Bill”, “TrumpCare”, and the “Keystone Pipeline Bill”. It’s best to be noted that only two of these, the “Bathroom Bill” and “Keystone Pipeline Bill”, have been fully approved. Though the two that have been past greatly affect many people, the failures of the other three have caused some humor. The fact that “The Travel Ban” has failed twice, “The Wall” is not going to be paid by Americans as promised”, and “TrumpCare” was proven far worse than ObamaCare goes to show that Donald Trump does not have much knowledge when it comes to putting together bills. Which, considering the majority of them lack political experience, is understandable. But that’s when the danger of Mike Pence comes into play. Though he was not popular, Mike Pence was the governor of Indiana from 2013 up until he was officially Vice President of the United States. On top of this, he attended law school and was a lawyer for many years. His education may seem comforting in the sense that at least there’s not a former reality tv star running our country, but when it comes down to his political views it is quite worrying. Since he knows his way around the legal system, it’s likely he will be able to compose a bill that is more likely to get passed, and one that will likely consist of hatred.

Mike Pence would use his knowledge to his advantage, not to the advantage of everyday Americans.

Trump is a disgrace to the American people and has/will hurt millions of people. But impeaching him is a questionable decision and may end up putting even more people in danger. Some have mentioned the idea of impeaching both Donald Trump and Mike Pence, but impeaching one person is hard enough, let alone two. Some may view Mike Pence as better due to his more mature manner, others may be fearful that that’s exactly what will get him the respect needed to influence our government. All in all, this needs to be considered by those who care. Replacing Donald Trump with someone who is just as bad, if not worse, is like fighting fire with fire. We have the ability to make a difference, we just need to decide when is the best time to use it.
