Donald Trump Has Created VOICE for the Monitoring of the Crimes of “Criminal Aliens”

Donald Trump has created a VOICE for marginalized people. No, you did not read that wrong, but you most certainly interpreted it incorrectly. The Victims of Immigration Crime Management office, or VOICE, was released by President Trump on Wednesday, April 25, 2017, by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Department of Homeland Security’s chief, John Kelly.

VOICE is designed to give justice to victims of crimes committed by “removable criminal aliens.” The abstractly obtuse language of “Criminal aliens’ can best be deciphered as a description of immigrants looking to enter the United States.

The mission statement of VOICE is plastered on to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement website as:

With honor and integrity, we will support victims of crimes committed by criminal aliens through access to information and resources.

The creation of VOICE displays itself as the continuation of direct discrimination of Hispanic immigrants/people that have been increasing since the beginning of Donald Trump’s campaign announcement. In a manner that parallels the racially biased Jim Crow law’s of 1877-154, the VOICE office’s government connection is the manifestation of legal oppression. But what is most striking about VOICE is that is representing itself as an entity designed to help American people while ignoring the offensive undertones that the office may hold for a large majority of the United States population.

It should be taken into consideration that the crux of the crime crisis that has been ongoing in the United States for years does not begin or end with “criminal aliens”, but actually with United States citizens themselves.

Research from the Sentencing Project in collaboration with the American Immigration Council finds that “foreign-born individuals are less likely than native-born individuals to have engaged in violent or non-violent antisocial behaviors in their lifetimes, including harassment, assault, and acquiring multiple traffic violations, “despite being more likely to have lower levels of income, less education, and reside in urban areas.”

VOICE’s office also debuted a hotline where onlookers and victims can actively report their abuse by a criminal alien. But as of Thursday, April 26, 2017, there have been more reports of extraterrestrial aliens to the hotline, than reports of the “aliens” that line was intended for.

The Twittersphere made its own declarations about the VOICE hotline.

ICE remains, however, that the flooding of the VOICE hotline with supernatural alien reports did not disrupt their duties.

There is indeed a voice needed for groups that are consistently oppressed in the status quo. But there has never been a need for a voice that mutes the voices of others with handcuffs and puts a microphone in front of the majority who is already shouting over everyone else.

You may report “removable criminal aliens” to the VOICE hotline at 1-855-48-VOICE.
