Introducing The Next Generation Of Leaders And Thinkers

Meet Savanna Vest — Our Affinity Writer Of The Week

Savanna’s article, “The Donald Trump Method: Belittling Opponents in Substitution for Argument and Credibility” caught our eye last week, so we have chosen her as the writer of the week! Get to know her below:

How old are you and where are you from?

I’m 17 and am from Louisville, KY.

How long have you been an Affinity writer?

I’ve written for Affinity since May, so about 4-5 months.

Favorite place?

My favorite place would probably be anywhere that I can explore nature, culture, or history.

Dream job?

My dream job is to be something where I can make a positive difference in other people’s lives.

Favorite color and song?

My favorite color is blue, and my favorite song at the moment is “Mountain Sound” by Of Monsters and Men.

What do you if you have writer’s block?

When I have writer’s block, I look through current events and see if anything sparks my interest or if there is a perspective that has not yet been addressed on the topic. Sometimes I get inspiration from lessons in my social studies and journalism classes, so I try to apply it to my writing whenever I’m able.

Any advice for young writers?

For young writers, I recommend that they realize that their thoughts and opinions shouldn’t be dismissed just because of their age. The capability to enact change now lies in youth more than ever, so don’t hold back from expressing your voice.
