Brock Turner Let Out of Jail After Only Serving Half Of His 6 Month Sentence

In January of 2015, Brock Turner was accused of sexually assaulting an intoxicated woman, he was caught by two international students, who later testified at his trial.

A year later, in March of 2016, Turner was found guilty and only sentenced to 6 months in county jail when the maximum sentence is 14 years in state prison. Turner has recently been released from prison serving only 3 months of his sentence, which is less than half.

On Friday Turner’s lawyers filed a 172-page appeal arguing that Turner did not receive a fair trial. They stated that the trial was “Fundamentally unfair” because of excessive media attention and other factors which stripped Turner of his right to a fair trial.

Turner’s trial did receive a media uproar, and still does, with many people across social media comparing him to Cyntoia Brown, who was given 51 years in prison for killing her abuser:

Turner’s lawyers wrote “The petitioner respectfully requests that this Court reverse his convictions,” when appealing to the court, asking for him to be acquitted of his charges. Which has again caused media uproar, especially with sexual predators getting exposed in Hollywood every day ever since the truth about Harvey Weinstein came out .

When this appeal came out the words of Turner’s victim were ringing in peoples ears when she said as apart of her statement at his trial

“This is not a story of another drunk college hookup with poor decision making, Assault is not an accident.”
