Mom Takes Down Those Who Killed Her Son

Karen Dobner has done everything she could for her son, Max Dobner, who tragically died in 2011 due to the effects of “iAroma,” a type of synthetic marijuana that caused him to experience hallucinations as well as a panic attack. His car reached a speed of 100 mph and fatally crashed into a house. Ever since the incident, she has dedicated the past seven years to achieving justice for her son, doing everything in her power to make sure that the people who caused it to happen don’t get held off easily. “I don’t know what kind of mother sells drugs in the mall to kids,” said Karen Dobner. Ruby Moshin had sold the kids the iAroma back at a mall store in a Chicago suburb. She is now sentenced to prison, after police have found out that she was still selling the product after Max Dobner’s death. The evidence from a CBS2 Chicago led investigation found that Moshin called the drugs “potpourri” and was reportedly selling it for $20 a gram.

Dobner also had hired an attorney, Shawn Collins, who found that: “Through our investigation, we learned that there was literally a nationwide distribution network- North Carolina, Iowa, Texas, Louisiana.”

Four people who were found to have been involved with the death of Max were formally charged. However, even though Moshin will only serve two years in federal prison, Dobner stated that she would do anything to have her son back with her. For years Dobner has been warning others about the danger of synthetic marijuana, which is especially dangerous in itself because of its unknown ingredients. It is also known to be 800% times stronger than regular marijuana, posing a very high threat to the human body when ingested.

Hopefully, through the story of Max Dobner, more people will be able to understand the real dangers of these drugs. Nobody should ever have to deal with the kind of pain Dobner has had these past several years while coping with the loss of her son.
