Kirstin Maldonado: A Role Model For Everyone

If you’re ever looking for someone to stan/become a fan of, I highly recommend Kirstin Maldonado of Pentatonix.

Kirstin is definitely someone I look up to; possibly the only celebrity (besides her bandmates) that I, personally, look up to. She is so undeniably positive and refuses to let anyone be sad. She is constantly supportive of anything and anyone no matter what. Kirstin can lift someone’s mood in a second and make them feel so loved by the simplest things. Sure, there are other celebrities to love, but Kirstin is definitely one of them.

Here’s a list of things Kirstin has said in videos, chapters from her blog, or in Tweets:

  1. “Be a good friend to those who need you. In their darkest time. In their lightest time! It shouldn’t matter if they’re an Eeyore or a Tigger. It should matter because they are your friend. If you don’t know how to handle them… don’t. Just be there. That means more than anything.” from chapter four of her blog
  2. “A little positivity and kindness go a long way.” from chapter six of her blog
  3. “There are people that cross our lives, in tiny fractions of time, in the briefest of encounters, and yet they leave an indelible mark in our hearts. In our minds.” from chapter five of her blog
  4. “Pick yourself back up and turn those setbacks into challenges. There are things you can’t control, but don’t let them run you over.” from a Tweet
  5. “The best thing I’ve ever learned is that not everyone needs to like you. Be honest with yourself! You’ll feel better in the end anyway.” from a Tweet
  6. “Be inspired by your faults to better yourself and your situation. Because getting wrapped up in your sorrow only hurts you.” from a Tweet
  7. “My dear little angels — Stop undervaluing yourself. You are worth so much more. Everyone goes through hard times, but don’t give up. Ever.” from a Tweet

  8. “Surrounding yourself with people that look out for you and root for you every day… That support is everything.” from a Tweet
  9. “Don’t let the people around you influence you so much that you lose track of what’s important.” from her Dear Me video
  10. “No one else is in control: you are.” from her Dear Me video

And Kirstin’s most famous quote, one she put on a bracelet and is her motto, one that has affected so many people so strongly including me:

“You are strong. Don’t forget that.” from her Dear Me video

I asked a fan of Kirstin, @lilyptx on Twitter, what Kirstin meant to her. This is what she replied, and prepare for a long, long paragraph of truth.

“Kirstin Maldonado. I could write a 500 page essay on her if I wanted to. Her entire aura is so wholesome and uplifting that she doesn’t seem real. One thing I really admire about her? She’s not afraid to be herself. On her Twitter page, you can see that everything is written in a positive manner. When something goes wrong from time to time or when drama strikes, the girl will not hesitate to speak her opinion. She is an incredible inspiration through social media. But! Wait until you see her in real life! Her smile and voice lights up the entire room, venue, arena, wherever you may be with her. I, a basically unknown person in the midst of twitter, made eye contact with Kirstin. That particular moment felt like it lasted an hour, but in reality, it only lasted a half a second. That night – that concert – her waving at me – her pointing at me – her smiling my way – our immediate eye contact once I called her name – changed my life. Our not very formal, not very realistic first impressions of each other were outstanding. I mean – her first impression of me. I could tell she was mentally laughing or something similar at me but hey! what can I say? also – her family obviously is her entire world. It’s adorable. She’s getting married in just a few months, now. I, as well as millions of her fans across the world, are happy campers. We’d do anything to make sure the queen is content with her surroundings. But, what really gets me, is how she treats her fans. It’s like we’re normal, everyday people.”

Kirstin genuinely means so much to so many normal people. She does not treat us as if we’re different or somehow lower than her, because we aren’t. She may be famous, but she’s human. She wants to be treated normally. Don’t we all? The fame may be nice sometimes, but there’s a time when it needs to stop.

Kirstin is such an advocate for little girls and positivity. There is no doubt in my mind that this woman is going to achieve so many great things, whether by herself or with her bandmates. She is someone special. There’s just something about this girl that draws whoever sees or meets her in. She can’t ever give out bad vibes; this woman is all good. She has flaws, but she embraces them as her own. She accepts herself and loves herself, and all she does is encourage and help other people feel the same toward themselves.

Personally, I can’t even describe my love for Kirstin in words. She has helped me so much in the past and continues to help me in the best way possible. I never knew that my love for someone could be so strong, especially not for a celebrity. Sometimes I feel like we’re friends, although we’ve never actually talked, because she just gives off this aura of complete friendliness and kindness and you always want to be around her. She is truly someone I’ll never get tired of.

Not only is she supportive and kind and absolutely trustworthy, but she’s beautiful in all ways: on the outside and on the inside. Not everyone will love or even like Kirstin like her fans do, but it’s impossible to hate her. She may change hair colors once in awhile, but her love for her fans, family, and friends… that never changes.
