The first day of July was warmly welcomed by a Twitter party with the trending hashtag, #JackGilinskyIsOverParty.
For those unfamiliar, which is probably everyone, Jack Gilinsky is a 20-year-old rapper from the duo ‘Jack & Jack’; he was also a star on Vine and was previously a member of the Magcon Boys. Their most famous single “Wild Life” was number 87 on the Billboard Hot 100.
In 2014, the rapper started dating Madison Beer, who has since then established her music career after being discovered by Justin Bieber. The pair has been dating for over two years and have become the subject of everyone’s “relationship goals” tweets… until now.
A twitter account had allegedly hacked Madison Beer’s iCloud account and gained access to the singer’s private media; however, the tweet that had everybody talking about the couple was of a short audio clip captioned: “The real Jack Gilinsky.”
In the clip, it is allegedly Jack Gilinsky conversing with Beer and saying: “Here, Imma tell you what’s up. Because you’re a f*cking sl*t. You’re a f*cking sl*t and I don’t give two f*cks either.” It is difficult to clearly understand Madison’s words, but it seems like she’s saying, “You don’t have to call me a sl*t.” A two minute version of the clip with more of the conversation has also been released, in which Jack continues to call Madison a sl*t, taunts her for keeping something from him, bragging about being able to get any girl he wants and mocking her for threatening to call the police.
Since the release of the clip, the Jack & Jack fan base was torn in two as some were quick to defend Gilinsky saying that Madison “obviously did do something to get him mad and call her that” and even go so far as to agree with his statements about Beer; whereas, more sensible fans sympathized with the singer and called Jack Gilinsky out for his disrespect and sl*t-shaming. Fans have also speculated that Gilinsky had cheated multiple times and was even abusive towards Madison.
It is disgusting that men and women still shame women for being themselves and acting the way they want. It is disgusting that some men will do whatever it takes to assert dominance and protect their masculinity. If you’re in a relationship with a guy like this, you’re likely in a toxic relationship and you need to get out of it quickly. If you feel like you’re trapped and scared into being with someone or if this person constantly knocks you down and how you feel about yourself, don’t be afraid to speak up and tell someone or get help.
