Haitians are urging people all around the world to not donate to the ARC (American Red Cross), after a 2015 report had shown the organization had used $500 million elsewhere. After the 2010 earthquake, the ARC had failed to honor a pledge. This pledge was to build 700 permanent homes, but they have been accused of only building six. While researching recent images and articles before Hurricane Matthew, it is very clear that Haiti doesn’t have the proper resources to help them get back on their feet. So, here are a five,underrated organizations that dedicate time to aid Haiti.
1. Hope for Haiti
Hope for Haiti is an organization that began in 1991. For 25 years, they have partnered with others and sponsored many events to help specific communities become sustainable environments. 2. CARE (Cooperative for Assistance and Relief Everywhere)
CARE is an organization that helps countries that are in poverty or experiencing the aftermath of a disaster. You can start your own fundraiser, volunteer, start petitions, or start your career in human services. Mercy Corps is the perfect organization for someone who wants to volunteer, intern, start a career, etc. Also, there are many opportunities to fundraise. 4. Partners in Health
Partners in Health is dedicated to help people with treatable and terminal diseases. Partners in Health is partnered with organizations/companies like TOMS and The GE Foundation. 5. Save The Children
Last but not least, is Save The Children. Save The Children allows you to sponsor a child, and help their family seek relief after a disaster.
