As of Jan. 27, Trump has imposed an executive order that includes an “extreme vetting” plan to keep out radical extremists out of America, or in other words, he imposed a ban on Muslims and refugees. The order was simple: keep those travelling from these certain countries out of America for as long as possible as well as suspending the Refugee admissions into the country unless they have special situations. These countries listed were: Iraq, Iran, Yemen, Somalia, Libya and Sudan. In addition, preference is also given to Christians who come from the Middle East, while Syrian refugees are currently suspended from entering America overall.

People immediately protested, with the order coming to effect immediately, many were kept detained in Airports and many lawyers offered their help to those being detained. Figures of influence such as Sia, even donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to ACLU.
However, just before the executive order was signed, the UK’s Prime Minister, Theresa May had just met with Trump. In that meeting, one of the most well-assumed topics that they have discussed is the possibility of a Post-Brexit deal, in which May is trying to obtain a developed relationship with Trump just in case Britain’s economy after Article 50 is triggered, collapses.
Trump and May’s meeting moreover, were highly criticized by everyone. As Trump continued to talk about his support for a relationship with Putin (while Theresa May was highly against it) as well as his support to bring back waterboarding and torture – extra matters to tick off his ongoing list to destroy America and bring back the Third Reich.
Theresa May’s silence in all of Trump’s actions recently shows that she’s on his side. She is the leader of one of the most diverse locations in the Western World, a place where the Muslim community thrives and succeeds – yet she can’t issue a full out statement that says she condemns it? May did release a statement, however. A statement that simply states that she “does not agree” with Trump’s refugee ban and will only act if it affects Britons.
This is simply not enough. It is not a shock that Theresa May may agree with Trump’s harmful executive order – since her previous role of being the Foreign Secretary of the UK proved her to be highly anti-immigrant, people should never forget the fact that she wrongly deported 48,000 international students at the start of 2016.
As an immigrant who is now a British citizen, I refuse to accept May’s simple statement. It’s not enough to reassure everyone in the country that she truly opposes it – since she refused to condemn it on video four times.
So.
Dear Theresa May,
Remember that actions speak louder than words.
Inviting Donald Trump to a state visit and refusing to take that invitation back only states that you have nothing but support for his actions. If you truly condemn the #MuslimBan, then we would have heard about it. Jeremy Corbyn, Ed Miliband, Yvette Cooper and even your own Tory MPs have publicly condemned it – all have even called you out for simply ignoring the harmful effects of it.
While the plan for Brexit is significant, put it aside for one minute and realize that the world is watching America enter the Third Reich. Now is your chance to do something about it.
