Sweden Challenges Trump, Publishes Fearlessly Feminist Photo

The Deputy Prime Minister of Sweden passively and epically trolled Donald Trump with an iconic photo posted to Twitter Friday.

In what appears to be a tongue-in-cheek challenge to a photo of Trump signing an executive order to restrict abortion rights while surrounded by an all-male staff, Isabella Lovin is pictured signing a bill to combat climate change with her female staffers.

“You can interpret it as you want,” Lovin’s spokesperson told Buzzfeed News. “It’s more that Sweden is a feminist government and this is a very important law that we just decided on.”

The bill signed by Lovin, should it pass, would restrict greenhouse gas emissions to zero by 2045 and would require future government leaders to abide by the mandate, according to The Guardian.

Trump, on the other hand, has repeatedly denied lending climate change any legitimacy as a major threat to humanity.

Since Trump’s first day in office, information about climate change and government policies to combat it are nowhere to be found on whitehouse.gov. Where Obama once had a comprehensive page about his climate policies, the Trump administration has wiped it clean, according to the New York Times.

And let’s not forget that time Trump called climate change a hoax perpetuated by the Chinese government.

Additionally, Lovin’s photo highlights Sweden’s stance on feminism as compared to America’s.

Sweden calls itself “the world’s first feminist government” and makes policy changes and resource allocations intentionally striving for gender equality.

Some in America elected a man who has said, “Women, you have to treat them like shit.”

According to Representation 2020, an organization that advocates for gender equality in American politics, women only comprise approximately 20 percent of both the Senate and the House of Representatives.

This is compared to the Swedish government, where 12 of 24 ministers are women.
