This past Thursday, March 16, 2017, in Rockville, Maryland a 14-year-old female student reported that around 9 a.m. she ran into 2 male classmates in Rockville High School’s hallway. The 2 male classmates identify as Jose O. Montano, 17, and Henry E. Sanchez, 18.
The boys asked the girl if they could walk with them and Sanchez allegedly asked her to have sex with them. After she denied him, the boys forced her into the boy’s bathroom. Montano then asked for a hug and then slapped the girls butt after that he asked her again to have sex with them and she refused.
After she refused Montano began to shove her into the boy’s bathroom and then into an empty stall. As she repeatedly said no to him, she began to hold onto a sink in an effort to prevent the upcoming assault. Montano began to unzip her top, as Sanchez came into the stall, Montano began to unzip the victims pants. Both Montano and Sanchez allegedly took turns raping the young teen.
When the boys heard the bathroom door open, Montano reportedly covered her mouth while Sanchez placed his jacket over the girl’s head and walked her out of the bathroom. The young girl then began to go back to class where she then encouraged herself to report the incident to staff.
The Special Victims Investigation Divison arrested both Montano and Sanchez at the school. Officials say that Sanchez denied having any involvement, but then later changed his story stating he did have unconsented intercourse with the victim.
Investigators later discovered blood and DNA in the bathroom stall where the victim stated the attack happened. It is unclear how there were no witnesses to this immoral act of rape during school hours.
Officials confirmed that Sanchez had only entered the country 7 months ago from Guatemala. Those officials also stated that Sanchez had already had an active “alien removal case” pending in the Federal Judicial System.
As for Montano. court officials confirmed that he came to the United States 8 months ago from El Salvador. Currently, Montano’s immigration status is unknown. Both Montano and Sanchez enrolled at Rockville High School as freshmen this year. Montano could only read and write in Spanish and he also struggled with English.“These are very serious allegations, carrying a life sentence. Anybody above the age of 16, facing up to life in prison, can be charged as an adult and that is the path we are taking at this time,” Korionoff concluded.
Both Montano and Sanchez were charged with first-degree rape and two counts of first-degree sexual assault. Both are being held without bond. Montano has also been charged as an adult for this crime. Officials did not release Montano’s mugshot due to his age.
