Dear Fellow White Person smirking with glee and spitting “they deserve to be arrested” when a black lives matter protestor is forcibly shoved to the ground and put inside a police vehicle,
I can’t help but notice that you only say this about black protestors. Not a word escapes your slimy smug lips when police are just as violent and cruel to protestors that look like you. So your appalling behaviors and comments lead me to this final conclusion: you think black people should stay silent and suffer oppression quietly. You think that by protesting for their very right to live safely and be equal under the law, just as us white Americans are, they need to be put into their place.
And maybe you don’t see even more of a gross under belly to your statement but I do. You wish peaceful protestors death under police custody and that is disgusting.
Yes this is how everyone, except peers who agree with you and are just as disgusting, interpret your character and statements. You may be or fake ignorance to the actual levity of your words, but every time you open your mouth at news of a black protestor, wether they be a civilian or a prominent activist such as Deray, and your first words are “they deserved to be arrested because they disrupted the peace” let me remind you that the very killer cops you defend eliminated the possibility for peace the second they shot, choked, beat, unlawfully detained, and in more cases than not killed an innocent black person. This is the very phrase “no justice, no peace” is exclaimed and etched into signs. Because the very people you view as your protectors and thus paragons of justice in your mind are in actuality the racist police we need to be gone. You need to understand that until the police stop killing unarmed and innocent american citizens for just existing while black, you need to start to understand that the oppressed have every right to fight against their oppressors, any means necessary. You need to understand that Black Lives Matter protest are peaceful protests, until the cops show up with riot gear and start attacking protestors and unlawfully arresting them.
Let me lay out some statistics that you can hopefully wrap your head around. In 2015 a study found that young black men were nine times as likely to be killed by the United Staes police force than any other United States Citizen. In 2015 37% or unarmed people killed by the police were black despite being only 13% of the United States population. With these two statistics alone it should be clear that the Police are targeting unarmed black United States citizens and should be clear that our police, and our society has a race problem, and that problem kills. And I am so lost as to how you can state in an off hand manner that black protestors deserve to be arrested, and by extension say that black protestors deserve to die.
I am done with you. Let this letter both open your mind and be a warning. Black Lives Matter and if you can’t comprehend that notion, you are apart of a huge and deadly systemic problem.
