On July 26, 2017, Trump announced that the government would not allow transgender people to fight in the military due to “tremendous medical costs and disruption.” This immediately sparked outrage, seeing as there was absolutely no reason for him to ban trans people, except for his transphobia and disgusting sense of self-righteousness.
In response to this statement, Caitlyn Jenner tweeted “There are 15,000 patriotic transgender Americans in the US military fighting for all of us. What happened to your promise to fight for them?” In an attempt to seem like she was actually trying to help. People were not having it.
Since the beginning of Trump’s presidential campaign, Caitlyn Jenner has been a very vocal defender, claiming that he would be good for LGBTQ+ and women’s issues. Constantly defending him for no reason, she now called him out when he started doing what we all knew he would do eventually. Now that Trump won’t support trans people, she acts like her privileged lifestyle is threatened, when really both Jenner and Trump don’t care for a minute what kinds of discrimination other trans people are going through. She supported him for money, plain and simple.
