Petty Betty. Petty Wap. Petty Crocker. All the infamous nicknames from the petty girls all over the world. Recently, my fellow petty girls and I found our petty queen, Angela Kardashian (formerly known as Blac Chyna). Seems like Blac Chyna and Rob Kardashian both found love in a hopeless place. Who would have though these two would fall in love? With all the drama surrounding them, this became the most unlikely pairing. To understand, I have to break it down for you.
Blac Chyna used to be engaged to rapper Tyga (they also have a child together) and best friends with Kim Kardashian. Tyga then left Chyna for Kim Kardashian’s underage half-sister, Kylie Jenner. This action also ended the friendship of Kim Kardashian and Blac Chyna. Now despite how mad all of the news about Kylie blatantly appropriating black culture and her inappropriate nature of her relationship with Tyga made me, it put a smile on my face to hear about how upset Kylie was when she found out about Blac Chyna dating her brother, Rob Kardashian. I, along with Black Twitter, exploded with laughter and jokes about the whole ordeal.
Black Twitter then exploded again after Kanye West himself confirmed the relationship in his song, “Highlight” from his latest album, The Life of Pablo.
“Blac Chyna f***ing Rob, helping with the weight
I wish my trainer would tell me what I overate.”
Despite the Twitter jokes and the pettiness we all admire, Blac Chyna and Rob’s relationship definitely looks like a healthy one. Not many teenagers are as lucky to have healthy relationships. Around 1.5 million high school boys and girls in the U.S. admit to being intentionally hit or physically harmed in the last year by someone they are romantically involved with. That number is alarming! 1 in 3 young people will be in an abusive or unhealthy relationship. Imagine sitting in class, and chances are there are a couple people who are in unhealthy relationships, maybe it is you. Abusive relationships affect your self esteem and your daily life. You will see yourself as worthless and withdraw from activities you use to enjoy. You aren’t the only one, prior to her relationship with Rob, there were rumors that Tyga use to physically abuse Chyna. Photos surfaced of her bruised eye and she denied all allegations. She claimed that Tyga doesn’t abuse her.
Prior to his relationship with Chyna, Rob Kardashian was in a relationship with Adrienne Bailon from The Cheetah Girls. We all watched their relationship blossom on the Kardashians, but we also saw it when it was very toxic. Adrienne openly spoke about his cheating to Latina Magazine.
“It’s common knowledge that he cheated on me,” Bailon says of why they split. “It always bothered me that people were like, ‘Why couldn’t you forgive him?’ Why are women always the ones who have to forgive? If you cheated on a man, he would be like, ‘You’re disgusting, and I want nothing to do with you.’ But women, we’re supposed to be like, ‘He messed up. He made a mistake.'”
They even had their names tattoo on each other. Both of them have since moved on. Rob has grown as an adult after being depressed for some time. Of course we as outsiders can only see their relationship through social media but Rob and Chyna always seem like they’re having fun and like they are always supporting each other. For example, Blac Chyna is helping Rob with his weight, even after his family has failed so many times to do so. If you were to ask me, Chyna is helping Rob become better in life and that’s exactly what relationships should do. Chyna may be taking Rob away from his family but his family seem to be the toxic thing in his life that he needed to get rid of to grow.
If you’re in a toxic relationship, you should speak to a friend or someone you trust. Abusive relationships include mental and physical. I’m so excited Chyna and Rob were able to find a healthy relationship together. We all are allowed to have second,third and infinity chances at healthy love!
