Why World Leaders Are Planning To #DitchTheDollar

The U.S. dollar is the world’s greatest reserve currency, with around 63% of global reserves held in it. It also enjoys a special position as the fiat currency – or a currency widely relied upon by businesspeople worldwide – and as the primary currency in which international bilateral trading is done, even when the U.S. is not a party in the said deal. All this has given the U.S. dollar, and hence the country it

Ben & Jerry’s Releases Anti-Trump Flavored Ice Cream

It seems that the current climate has pushed companies to appeal to the masses like never before by taking political stands. Big industries such as Microsoft have even become political by stating they will protect their undocumented & DREAMer employees. More and more companies are taking risks to appeal to the liberal market, including Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream. B&J’s has been teasing their new flavors for hours until they went live at 10 AM on Oct. 30th.

A Note To Trump: Trans People #WontBeErased

Trans Lifeline:  877-565-8860 I GLBT National Help Center: 1-888-843-4564 In their latest attempt not to discriminate against women under Title IX, the Trump administration has decided to institute a legal and fixed definition of gender, which in turn discriminates against transgender people. (Nailed it.) For those who don’t know what Title IX is, it’s a law under the Education Amendments Act of 1972 that basically says no federally-funded institution can deny someone from participating in

Why “It’s A Very Scary Time” For Cis-Het White Men

In the wake of Brett Kavanaugh’s hearings and eventual judicial confirmation to the United States Supreme Court, America has been left with many mingling emotions. However, the dominant and most concerning feeling, according to President Trump, is fear. Which is undoubtedly a strange and terrible new sensation for cisgender heterosexual white men. It’s evident that our country’s biggest issue isn’t men being chauvinists and rapists. No, the problem is women degrading the character of men

The Language of World News: The Changing Face of Trump-era Journalism

In the era of “fake news,” it seems the entire journalism industry has come under fire. Regardless of which side a source supports, it is apparent that world news dialect has been completely altered since the politics of yesteryear — or  pre-2016, for that matter. After gracing the pages of ancient Greek literature, this powerful rhetorical device has become a large facet of political vocabulary, though many lack an understanding of its foundation. It is

City Council Votes to Remove Trump’s Star from Walk of Fame

The West Hollywood City Council voted unanimously on Monday to move forward with the process of removing Donald Trump’s star from the Hollywood Walk of Fame. According to the Los Angeles Times, the move is “largely symbolic,” as approval of the proposed resolution, which cites President Trump’s “disturbing treatment of woman” and “other actions,” essentially serves as a strong recommendation. The only body with actual jurisdiction over the decision is the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.

I Went To Trump’s Montana Rally. Now, I Realize Why He Won.

Depicted by the New York Times as the “least gay-friendly city in Montana,”with “59,000 mostly conservative citizens,” Great Falls is total Trump turf. It is also my hometown. When an official within the local political establishment informed me that the President of the United States would be flying on Air Force One into Great Falls International Airport, my mind was off to the races. Would he flip our only blue Senate seat red? Would this

Trump to Meet With Putin on July 7

At the latest G7 Summit, President Trump shocked the international community with an outlandish proposal to re-admit Russia into the group of close allies. Mere weeks later, the White House and the Kremlin released simultaneous statements where it was announced that Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin would meet on July 16th, in Helsinki, Finland. National Security Advisor John Bolton traveled to Moscow before the announcement to hash out the final logistics. It has been reported

Here’s Why Trump’s Executive Order Isn’t All That Helpful

As of now, there have already been about 2,000 immigrant children being separated from their parents at the US border, due to Attorney General Jeff Sessions’s ‘zero-tolerance’ policy that “prohibits both attempted illegal entry and illegal entry into the United States by an alien.” “We’re going to have strong, very strong borders, but we’re going to keep the families together.” Just this Wednesday afternoon, President Donald Trump signed an executive order to end the separation

What Everyone Is Getting Wrong About Being ‘Woke’

Last year, I was known by the majority of my grade as the ‘alt-left, anti-Trump, radical feminist’ student. I had the loudest, most radical opinions about politics and I never thought twice about sharing it. People either felt intimidated, inspired, or annoyed by my actions. And frankly, I was proud of it. I was being what everyone called, ‘woke.’ By definition, ‘woke’ is understanding and being aware of the social, political and economical issues of
