Let’s not forget about the black lives lost over the past couple years. The Black Lives Matter movement is very powerful and we will NOT forget them.

Rumain Brisbon (Dec. 2, 2014): shot to death by police officer who supposedly “mistook” his bottle of pills for a gun.

Tamir Rice (Nov. 22, 2014): shot and killed while holding a BB gun seconds after being spotted in a park.

Akai Gurley (Nov. 20, 2014): shot in a dark stairwell unarmed and didn’t know what was happening at the time.

Kagieme Powell (Aug. 19, 2014): accused of and shot at for stealing energy drinks and pastries and cops claimed he approached them holding a knife, but video footage shows powell did not come as close to the police as they reported and his hands were by his side; was shot 15 seconds of police arriving at the scene.

Ezell Ford (Aug. 12, 2014): police claim a struggle was ensued but standbys reveal that he was lying down when he was shot and killed.

Michael  Brown (aug. 9, 2014): shot and killed by darren wilson after 6 fatal wounds to head, shoulder, and chest; autopsy shows that he was shot while already on the ground, and unarmed.

Eric Garner (July 17, 2014): policeman put Garner in a chokehold, compressing his neck and chest, even after garner shouted, “I can’t breathe I can’t breathe”. Medical examiner ruled a homicide but the policeman was not indicted

Yvette Smith (Feb. 16, 2014): shot after opening her front door to the police who responded to a domestic disturbance call.

Mckenzie Cochran (Jan. 28, 2014): died of position compression asphyxia by mall security.

Jordan Baker (Jan. 16, 2014): an off-duty cop thought baker fit the description of robbery suspects (black hoodie). He was fatally shot and unarmed.

Jonathon Ferrell (Sep. 14, 2013): crashed car and knocked on the door of nearby house. The woman inside called the police, when apprehended, ferrell was shot 10 times, unarmed.

Shereese Francis (Mar. 15, 2012): diagnosed with schizophrenia, and did not take medication at the time. Four police officers allegedly pinned her down and handcuffed her; she stopped breathing. Coroner’s report concluded that francis died of compression of trunk during agitated violent behavior.

All but two of these were in 2014. If this many people of color died unarmed at the hands of the police, what makes you or anybody else think that it was for “self-defense”  or “ a cop’s duty” to murder and blindly kill these people who were mistaken as ‘thieves, robbers, etc’?
