13. Spraynard – Mable; A great comeback album from the band’s breakup 3 years ago. An album filled with better days, and cheerful sing-along choruses, pop punk band Spraynard lets all of their listeners know you matter! Spraynard – Applebees Bar
12. Tenement – Predatory Headlights; Rock n’ Roll is the new Punk! With all the solos, catchy chord progressions, to even a piano, the pop punk outfit, Tenement, brings us all the way back to the golden age of rock n’ roll and with pop punk influences in their newest record! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fdl7ub7e9-M
11. Ty Money – Cinco de Money; Despite only being a mixtape, Chicago rapper, Ty Money, shows off all the bars he can throw in the latest release. He takes elements from the drill music scene, which is very strong in Chicago, and showed that he deserves some hype. Ty Money – Just Bars
10. Mac DeMarco – Another One; It seems like another great year for indie rockstar, Mac DeMarco! After Salad Days being a favorite for most in 2014, Mac is back at it with a new 8 track EP, except this one’s ALL about love. Can’t have a complete summer without having sweet, soothing love music to go along with it. Mac DeMarco – I’ve Been Waiting For Her
9. Bully – Feels Like; Being a huge fan of power-pop, (I grew up with a lot of Weezer), nothing says “EVERY NIGHT’S A PARTY” without catchy riffs, amazing solos, and an even catchier chorus! That’s exactly what Bully’s debut record delivers. As said before, rock n’ roll is the new punk! Bully – Trying
8. Desaparacidos – Payola; Let’s not forget about Conor Oberst’s side projects! This is the first Desaparacidos record in over a decade, and it rocks! While giving off a power-pop/punk feel, the band also gives off their politics with this record. Yea, punk band making a political record, but a CATCHY political record. Desaparecidos – “Slacktivist” (Full Album Stream)
7. Titus Andronicus – The Most Lamentable Tragedy; Now if you know anything about Titus, their lead, Patrick Stickles, may be one of the most outspoken, politically active rockers of the generation. Now put that together, and now imagine he and the band making a 30-track ROCK OPERA, with a very sweet concept behind it as well. From pianos to strings, the band did it all! Fatal Flaw (Single Version)
6. Hop Along – Painted Shut; Philly rockers, Hop Along, come back from a good 3-year break and bring fire with their sophomore album, Painted Shut. One of the greatest rock n’ roll vocalist, Frances Quinlan, delivers an amazing amount of energy influenced from punk with a conscious technique in her writing. Hop Along – The Knock
5. Future – Dirty Sprite 2; The album that all of us fans had been waiting for! Future has been on his grind since fall of 2014 starting with the mixtape Monster. Next with Beast Mode, which was mainly about his breakup with Ciara. Then off to 56 Nights– another mixtape that was dropped in early 2015. And now, he brings the heat with his studio album, Dirty Sprite 2. It’s a clear reminder that Future is definitely taking no breaks on rising to the top, and congrats, Future, it worked! Future – Where Ya At ft. Drake
4. Jamie xx – In Colour; You all might recognize him from the indie-pop group The xx. Still got the indie-pop feel, only way more original! This has also been an album, if you were a fan of The xx, that has been a rumor for a very long time. Since 2011, actually. This album’s production was magical, as well as the features! Even Young Thug was a part of this beautifully created album. It’s as if the album was made specifically for the summer, and made for paradise. Jamie xx (feat. Romy) – SeeSaw
3. Eskimeaux – O.K.; If you love Frankie Cosmos, Mistki, or even Elvis Depressedly, you will love Gabrielle Smith’s side project, Eskimeaux. The album is very gloomy, but also extremely soothing. Almost reminds you of any coming-of-age movie ever, but what’s summer without feeling at least one of those moments where you feel like you’re in a coming-of-age movie? Eskimeaux – Broken Necks
2. The Internet – Ego Death; Although Frank Ocean is still in the shadows messing with our emotions, at least we have The Internet to hold us over till Frank comes through. This album hits all elements of R&B, jazz, hip-hop, and soul! All the components to an awesome weekend with the homies. The Internet – Special Affair (Audio)
1. Vince Staples – Summertime ’06; The album that we all have been waiting for– Vince Staples debut studio album! Vince Staples has been on a huge grind from features with rappers like Earl Sweatshirt, to his great, socially woke 7-track EP Hell Can Wait, Vince proved that he is more than what you hear on features with this album. It covers topics of his life growing up, coming out of Long Beach, CA, and his come-up to fame. By far a favorite of the years. Vince Staples – Norf Norf (Explicit)
