Introducing The Next Generation Of Leaders And Thinkers

White America, What Have You Just Done?

What did we just do? As a matter of fact, what poor decision did you make that my generation will have to reap the consequences? You who just voted a sexist bigoted racist into the position as president of the United States. You who have just appointed a literal cartoon into office. I knew that America had its flaws, but this is a whole other level of detrimental. In a surprising twist that everyone saw coming but no one wanted to admit, Donald Trump is the president of the United States.

Did we not learn after the leaked taped that he was sexist? That he shouldn’t be trusted to lead the young men in this country? Did we not learn after his first few statements that he was racist? How did we let this happen? Hilary Clinton was not perfect, but I thought we were all in agreeance that she was by far the better of two evils. The sad thing is that I actually believed she would win. I had so much faith in a country that continues to let my people down.

For all those who claim that America is still the home of the free. That racism does not exist, I hope that you can see it as well as we do right now because that is the only way that this man was elected president.

White America has once again stolen the voice of the diverse culture that makes up this country.

Everything that we have worked for, that our ancestors have worked for, could possibly be eradicated because of this one decision. We saw what happened to the Black community when President Ronald Reagan moved in, and the thought that history could repeat itself is all too real right now.

The funny thing is, we know exactly who voted Trump into the presidency. The ones who just could not see a woman as president. The ones who chanted “Build that wall!” again and again and again. The ones who fly their Vote Trump flag right next to their Confederate flag. The ones who flinch at the mere sight of a Muslim man or woman at the airport. The ones who are stuck fifty years in the past. What’s terrifying is that there must be more of these types of people out there than I further perceived because someone had to have been the final push off the edge.

I want to let everyone who voted Donald Trump into the presidency know that this will not be good for us. Sure, it may seem good for you. The middle-aged upper-class White men and women, but this will not be good for us as a country. For the people of color for the LGBTQ+ community for anyone who is beyond scared of their future right now. As a nation, this decision could be our turning point, and it’s amazing how so many people let this happen. I couldn’t vote this election, but I trusted you. I trusted you with my future and my voice, and you exploited it and I will never forgive you for that. What have you done?
