Enough is Enough: It’s Time to Dump Hillary Clinton

Following the victory of Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton in the U.S presidential election last November, blame has been thrown left and right throughout the Democratic base regarding who/what is to blame for Clinton’s loss. Some point to the outdated electoral college as being skewed; some point to the mainstream media for hyping up and normalizing Trump; some point to the people that voted for him as being ignorant and bigoted. All of which are valid criticisms, however it seems hardly anyone at all is pointing to the one person who actually lost them the election—their own candidate, Hillary Clinton.

Hillary Rodham Clinton is the worst politician the Democratic party has seen in recent history.

On election night, Hillary Clinton proved to America what some on the left had sadly already known: that it doesn’t matter how many advantages you give her, how incompetent of an opponent you give her, how much of a what should-be easy victory you give her, because she will manage to lose. Had Clinton held a mixture of Florida, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin and Iowa,  it would have resulted in an easy Democratic win that night.  This might well seem like a bit of a stretch, except for that it shouldn’t have been an issue for her whatsoever considering all of these states have gone in the Democrats’ favor the past 8 years and most have for the last 28 years as well. In fact, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin have been Democratic strongholds in every election since the blowout races of 1984 and 1988, in which virtually every state in the country went to the Republican candidate (for reasons that require a layer of historical context to understand beyond what is relevant to the topic of this article). It’s undeniable that Clinton’s lack of ability to appeal to the voters of these states to such a dramatic degree is both shameful and unprecedented of a Democratic party candidate for president.

2016 Election Polling, Clinton v. Trump

Her bid against Donald Trump isn’t the first time Clinton has underwhelmed in a race that should have been a clean sweep on her part. Let’s not forget that in the primary cycle she nearly slid by with the party nomination after dropping 23 states to Sen. Bernie Sanders—the man who, until months after his announcement of candidacy, was an entirely unknown name to the vast majority of Americans. The same is true for Clinton’s race against Barack Obama in the 2008 primary, which for a solid year and a half she was predicted to be the clear winner of. However her bland politics proved to be lackluster among democrats, losing her the race. Hillary Clinton has a track record of losing (or coming awfully close) to the underdog, which is not something the Democratic party can tolerate in a candidate if they plan on defeating Donald Trump and the Republicans in 2020.

All-in-all, it’s time for the Democratic National Committee and all liberal-minded people to recognize that Hillary Clinton’s boring, non-progressive ideas paired with her fishy (to say the absolute least) ties with big money are not only outdated and corrupt, but ineffective at winning elections as well. It’s time to let go.
