Dear Donald Trump, you are now officially the president of the United States. But we will not respect you, we will not back down and we will not stop fighting for what is right.
You are not normal. It’s 2017 and your hatred and bigotry won’t be tolerated. Your lack of experience and intelligence won’t go unnoticed. You can attack women, LGBT+, Muslims, Latinos and the disabled as much as you like, but we will continue to fight for their rights. We will fight for better healthcare. We will make sure climate change doesn’t become worse than it already is. We will protest and use our voices, and we will be heard.
I am scared of what’s to come, the discrimination that millions of people will face but I am not scared of you.
I am sorry to every child that has to grow up looking at you as a leader. I am sorry that they will grow up thinking bigotry is okay. I am sorry they won’t have an intelligent and respectful president to listen to.
My generation is the most accepting and open-minded of all time. We don’t discriminate, we aren’t hateful and we are not afraid to speak up for what’s right. We will be world leaders one day, and we will change the world.
We are united and stronger than you will ever be. This is a sad time for everyone, and it may be discouraging but I can assure you, President Trump, we will not let this stop us.
