Thousands of people unite at Stonewall Inn, West Village, NY — where the gay rights movement took off — but this time instead of protesting against the police, they’re protesting against the annoying orange in office.
Corey Johnson, member of New York City council and representative of the Greenwich Village, Chelsea and Time Square districts, organized the rally at The Stonewall Inn via Facebook earlier this week. “Join us in front of the Stonewall Inn as we stand in solidarity with every immigrant, asylum seeker, refugee and every person impacted by Donald Trump’s illegal, immoral, unconstitutional and un-American executive orders.”
“One of the many things that Stonewall taught us was that progress does not come easy,” Johnson spoke to the rally this morning.
Sen. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer also spoke before the crowd, starting and carrying the chant “dump Trump!”
The rally was originally aimed towards protesting against Trump’s ban but with the leak of the anti-LGBT EO, a new reason is added to the reason of protest. It’s kind of like adding lighter fluid to someone already on fire, if you will.
The overall theme of the rally is resistance and solidarity while protesting the common sense of human rights that some people can’t seem to get through their thick orange peel.
