Powerful “#NotTheEnemy” Hashtag Goes Viral After Trump’s Statement Against Press

Shortly after President Trump called the press “the enemy of the American people,” the media soon exploded out of anger. Tweet after tweet with the hashtag “#NotTheEnemy” floats around twitter with a dedication to the American Journalists who have lost their lives due to dedicating themselves to the truth. Here is the President complaining on Twitter and exposing his ignorance towards those who have died to inform:

What Trump is doing serves as the same equivalency to a thirteen-year-old girl tweeting about how her relationship ended. Evidently, Trump forgot that the First Amendment allows for the freedom of press and speech. Regardless of whether or not the news is “fake” to him, complaining about something that is already constituted into our civic rights as American citizens does absolutely nothing.

Trump is not only just simply complaining because he enjoys it, but he is also showing how ignorant he is as a human being. By saying that the media is the enemy of the American people, Trump is completely disregarding every American Journalist who has been murdered, tortured or kidnapped while trying to give the best information for the rest of the world. Below is a tweet showing the sheer number of journalists who have died since 2013:

The hashtag then evolved into a tribute to the thousands of journalists who died on the job:

#NotTheEnemy turned into one powerful thread showcasing the voices of the American people and their strength towards ignorance. It makes you wonder if President Trump has ever cared about anything as much as these journalists did.
