Time Asks Trump To Take Down Fake Magazine Covers From His Golf Clubs

On Tuesday, Time Magazine asked the Trump Organisation to take down photoshopped magazine covers featuring President Trump on them from his business priorities. The Washington Post brought attention to the fake covers that were hanging in several of Trump’s golf courses. The fake cover included headlines like “TRUMP IS HITTING ON ALL FRONTS… EVEN TV!” as well as calling his former reality show, The Apprentice, a “television smash.”

A spokesperson for Time Magazine confirmed that the cover is fake.

Besides hanging in five of Trump’s golf clubs, it’s also hanging in Trump’s infamous Mar-a-lago property. Mr. Trump frequently visits Mar-A-Lago. Trump even brought the Chinese president and his wife to Mar-A-Lago during their state visit.

The Washington Post pointed out that the magazine covers are obviously fake just by looking at how the red border around the edges is thinner, there is no thin white border around the red border, and the secondary headlines are in the wrong place.

It is unclear whether the Trump organization was aware that the covers were fake or if they genuinely believed it was real, which wouldn’t be surprising. It is also unclear why such a huge advocate for combating fake news would encourage something like this. Trump has also called fake news the “enemy of the American people.” Which in this situation, is completely right.

Trump has featured on 14 Time covers, so again, it is even more confusing as to why he decided to choose a badly photoshopped one instead.

Politico reported in May that Trump’s national security adviser, K.T McFarland gave Trump two Time Magazine’s, including one that allegedly was from the 1970’s predicting a future ice age, which happened to be fake as well.
