Introducing The Next Generation Of Leaders And Thinkers

The Racial Socialization of Beauty Standards

Having a “racial preference” for whiteness (including idealizing white-mixed folk) reinforces euro-centric beauty standards. For example, by saying “I only date mixed black people”, you’re giving the idea that being partially white is more desirable. The idea that white people are more attractive isn’t new; look at slavery for example. Light-skinned black people that were mixed with white as a result of rape were thought of as being more attractive & they got the “best” jobs as being “house negroes”. This leads on to today where people think that being light-skinned or racially ambiguous makes you more superior than dark-skinned black people that aren’t mixed.

Due to how prevalent racism is in the world, you are constantly being socialized to find certain things attractive while correlating other bodily features with someone being “ugly”, such as advertisements and marketing being filled with white or light skinned people, white people making up more than 90% of all movie and television roles, & makeup and beauty products being advertised on white skin – all of these things condition your brain into connecting whiteness with someone being attractive, while darker skin tones are seen as abnormal and thereby; ugly.

This is the psychology of marketing and how it reinforces racism, it’s something that scientists and sociologists have been researching and proving time and time again over the course of decades.

Face it, they have molded, bred and conditioned you into exactly what they want you to be. You do not make your own decisions, that is how corporate socialization and breeding works. You’re a product of your environment. It’s up to you to go along with the bigotry and brainwashing, or to choose to not be apart of that. Don’t blame me for you being too lazy to change it.
