Cut creases are a staple in the beauty community. Because they are so popular and used so often, some people may find them mundane and “basic.” Adding glitter to your cut-crease can give it a little something extra. Here’s how to achieve this sparkling eyeshadow look:
Step one: Lay down a base
With a flat eyeshadow brush and patting motions, apply any white/cream-colored shadow from the brow-bone to the lashline. This will act as a base and will make blending our next few shadows much easier.
Step two: Transition colors
With a fluffy eyeshadow brush, apply transition colors in the crease and blend out with a sweeping windshield wiper motion. Transition shadows should be matte colors that are in between the shade you will apply later to darken your crease and the shade you applied as your base. I’m using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette in the shades “raw sienna” and “burnt taupe.” A good drugstore palette that has nice warm toned transition colors like this is the NYX Cosmetics Go-To Palette.
Step three: Crease color
Using the tip of a flat eyeshadow brush, lay down a dark brown color to deepen your crease. This will add dimension. I am using the shade “cyprus umber” from the ABH Modern Renaissance Palette.
Blend, blend, blend! (small circular motions and sweeping motions are great for blending!)
Step four: Concealer
With the smallest flat brush you can find, apply a small amount of concealer right under your crease in order to clean up the shadow and “cut the crease.” My current favorite concealer is the NYX Concealer Wand.
Step five (optional): Definition
I like to add an even darker shadow after I use concealer. I feel that it adds a lot of definition and gives the look more depth. With a thin angled brush, apply a very dark brown in your crease (right above the concealer) and blend it slightly into the other shadows. I’m using the Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca Remix palette in the shade “vox” for this step. Any black/brown eyeshadow will do.
Step six: Glitter base
With a small eyeliner brush, apply a sticky eyeshadow/glitter base where the cut crease is.I like to use the NYX Cosmetics Eyeshadow Base for this part.
Step 7: GLITTER!
With the same brush, apply glitter! My favorite glitter is the NYX Face and Body Glitter!
*Make sure you are VERY careful when applying glitter on/near your eyes!! *DO NOT — USE CRAFT GLITTER!*
Step 8: Lashes and Liner
Add your favorite lashes and liner.
And you’re done! Now go take some selfies, feel hot, and take on the day.
