Well, well, well. What a turn of events we have here, huh? It’s now official that former republican presidential candidate and Kevin from The Office stunt-double Ted Cruz will be voting for republican presidential nominee and likely dementor Donald Trump.

This endorsement has not been a walk in the park; it is the result of a long, winding road. I mean, it can be difficult to decide whether or not to support one of the most racist, sexist, and xenophobic men in current American politics, right? *eyeroll* At the 2016 Republican National Convention, Ted Cruz addressed the crowd and blatantly omitted a statement of support for Trump’s presidency. This resulted in the nothing-but-expected booing from the massive crowd of white people and Ben Carson.

But now it appears that this Canadian-turned-Texan is backing down from his former refusal to throw his support behind “pathological liar” Donald Trump. “After many months of careful consideration, of prayer and searching my own conscience,” Cruz posted on his Facebook page, “I have decided that on Election Day, I will vote for the Republican nominee, Donald Trump.”

This stance reversal should, in all honesty, not come as a surprise to anyone. Donald and Ted closely align in beliefs ranging from all things economic issues to all things social issues. They both believe we should give tax cuts to rich as well as keep the minimum wage below a living wage (because obviously people in poverty just aren’t working hard enough). They both also believe that women are not entitled to make decisions about their own bodies. Uhh… bigots unite…?

Maybe instead of praying about whether he should vote for Donald Trump, Ted Cruz should have been praying for his Lord to provide him with some better morals and political beliefs. God knows he needs them.
