Introducing The Next Generation Of Leaders And Thinkers

Stop Romanticizing Hillary Clinton

In less than one week, the U.S. will have a new president–either a greedy, perverted narcissistic orange xenophobe or a white feminist who is having a really rough time using Gmail. But remember: she’s a woman!

It’s understandable why many people don’t want to vote because there isn’t really a good choice that has a chance at winning (sorry, Jill Stein!). In this election, a man who has claimed he wants to build a wall to prevent illegal immigrants from seeking opportunities or safety in America, a man who has persistently opposed nationwide marriage equality, a man who has degraded women (numerous times!) is running against Hillary Clinton, a woman!, who has done all of the same things.

You read that right.

Hillary Clinton has openly opposed gay marriage, has suggested that “physical barriers” be made to prevent illegal immigration, and has actually degraded women numerous times.

Liberal media tends to portray Clinton as a hero who receives too much unnecessary judgment. Is this true? Yes. Clinton gets enough judgment for being a woman, for being “the wife of a ____,” for Benghazi, for the emails, but she doesn’t get any real judgment for her role in actual world problems that she helped to create. Her frightening role in the human rights abuses of the Mexican Drug War? Most people have never heard of it. She supports Haitian sweatshops which are essentially modern day slavery? So much of this is not spoken about by any news outlet. Hillary Clinton is obviously the smartest candidate, but the word that more accurately describes her is cunning, and if she truly considers women’s rights to be human rights, I’m genuinely worried about what she thinks women’s rights are.

Am I saying Donald Trump is the perfect candidate? No. That I support him? Nope. That he will make America great again? Hell no. I would never say any of that because his campaign is pretty much one of the greatest (and most depressing) jokes in American history. However, his faults are brought up much more than Clinton’s because of the media, in general, being more biased in favor of Clinton. We bring up videos of him claiming he “grabs [women] by the pussy” from 2005 yet largely ignore a video of Clinton opposing same-sex marriage in 2004, claiming that it was too long ago and times have changed. We bring up Trump’s personal life–his failed marriages, his creepy obsession with his daughter, etc.- but once Clinton gets flack for being with a man who has allegedly sexually assaulted women, everyone is quick to stand up for her. It’s clear that both candidates have their faults, but Clinton’s faults always seem to disappear from sight, don’t they?

“Feminists” need to stop advocating for Clinton while ignoring the human rights violations that Clinton has advocated for in other countries (and yes, humans include women!) as well as her blatant disrespect for women who have claimed to be victims of her husband’s proven sexual misconduct. Liberals need to stop emphasizing having a woman as president and begin emphasizing that the gender of the presidential candidate shouldn’t affect whether or not you vote for them. Journalists need to stop the War on Trump and begin the War on Corruption, for both candidates. Lastly,

Conservative America needs to reject their idea that Trump will Make America Great Again! when in reality he would only be doing that for rich white men like himself. Liberal America needs to reject the idea that Hillary Clinton is some revolutionary feminist queen that will immediately wash away every female stereotype and form of disrespect toward women created in the universe.

Both ends of the political spectrum must agree that, in reality, there isn’t really any good option here.
