Introducing The Next Generation Of Leaders And Thinkers

Why is Race Baiting only Okay When White People Do It?

As you all might have read, two police officers were shot and killed early on Wednesday morning. Conservative anti-Black Rights affiliates wasted no time turning this into a race issue.

The COO of GlobalBoost (I still have no succinct clue what the company does but it has 12,000 followers) tweeted

First of all, WHAT THE HELL IS A BLM OR ISLAMIC STYLE ATTACK? Since when did killing become indigenous to a specific race/ethnicity?

And he didn’t stop there. He went on to later tweet

Even the Des Moines police Sgt. Paul Parizek, before the suspect was put into custody, released a statement saying “There is a clear and present danger to police officers right now,” Parizek said, visibly shaken. “We’re very well aware of the society that we’re living in right now … and that there are some not so positive views of law enforcement that a segment of our population holds.” I wonder what the race of the people that hold “not so positive” views of the law enforcement are? I’ll take a wild guess and say black people.

The suspect, contrary to the conservative agenda and the police Sergeant’s insinuations of painting all Black people as thugs, is actually a white male. He isn’t a part of the “problematic black race” that “hates” the police or panders race to find an excuse to attack the police and white people. He isn’t from the “correct” race that can be used as a scapegoat to justify blatant institutional racism and murder.

Therein lies the problem. The suspect in custody is WHITE. The suspect in custody is the SAME race as the the people screaming #BlueLivesMatter until they’re actually blue in the face. These types of conservatives get so riled up saying that liberals have an agenda and use race for everything but the tweet nonsense like this?

It’s comical yet scary how delusional these racist people are. They are so adamant that black people are “the enemy” that they reach and start conspiracy theories to validate their racist ideals?

Our law enforcement officers are entrusted and employed to protect and serve the community, yet the leaders within the law enforcement are allowed to make insinuations without any facts that perpetuate the racist narrative that these conservatives are trying to shove down our throats.   It’s easy to assume that, with the Black Lives Matter movement and widespread distrust of the law enforcement within the black community, a black person committed this atrocious crime. It’s easy to scapegoat black people because they’re protesting unfair treatment and some individuals within the black community have taken it upon themselves to wrongly attack law enforcement agents.

Why didn’t the sergeant simply say they need to wait for more evidence? This mentality, especially when found in a law enforcement officer, is dangerous. It’s what leads to perceived threats leading to over aggressive use of force which results in unjustified killings. It’s what leads to #(insert slain person of color’s name here) and brings out black people in hordes to protest, sometimes aggressively, the prejudices they are faced with at the hands of the police force. How can you expect to be treated fairly if the law enforcement already sees “your kind” as the source of the “clear and present danger to the law enforcement”?

What happened is a tragedy, but it can not and SHOULD NOT be blamed on BLM in any way shape or form. It’s unfair and unprofessional to criminalize a group of peaceful people because it’s conveniently plays  into the fears of Trump’s supporters and other racist individuals. Officers can “take their blue off”, but black people cannot take their black skin off and go about their merry white way. No matter how much you guys want BLM and Black people to be the enemy that you can succinctly pin all of your problems on, your plans will not prosper.
