As many of you may or may not know, Lauren Jauregui’s sexuality has been quite the talk the last week, considering that Perez Hilton potentially outed her after spreading a leaked photo of her kissing a girl at a wedding on Sunday.
Why are @FifthHarmony fans being so extra over this photo of @LaurenJauregui (in the red) kissing another girl? NBD! https://t.co/3smnzaWAB3 pic.twitter.com/dIbUzkoxYD

(Side note: At the time, Affinity decided to not write about the topic to respect Lauren’s privacy and to keep it from spreading as much as possible.)
In fact, Jauregui’s sexual orientation has always been questioned by fans, many of whom take the ship “Camren” (Lauren and her bandmate Camila Cabello) extremely seriously. It’s a parallel to One Direction’s “Larry” ship, the supporters taking it too far by finding “proof” and labeling every touch, or moment of eye contact, the band member’s make to each other a secret love gesture. But, no actual concrete evidence has ever been released regarding the two girls’ sexualities’ until now.
“I am a bisexual Cuban-American woman and I am so proud of it.” reads a sentence in Jauregui’s long address to Trump voters.
Jauregui also touches on other important topics in this long, rant-like article. She calls out the hypocrisy of Trump supporters; how they claim to want “liberty and justice for all” as the Pledge of Allegiance says, but they voted for a man who want’s to do the opposite for anyone who’s not white, cisgender, straight, or male. She speaks on political correctness, an idea that is completely disregarded and even hated by Trump and his supporters. She also talks about immigration and even addresses the privilege she has as a white-passing Latina.
As a bisexual 17 year old girl, I am so proud of Lauren’s courage to come out in such a tremendous spotlight when I can’t even find the courage to come out to my parents. I hope she realizes the impact this has made on young, struggling LGBT+ members in her fan base; it inspires them to love themselves and be comfortable in their own skin, no matter what our homophobic society tells them. Furthermore, for bisexuality to have such a huge representation in mainstream media is incredibly refreshing.
I encourage you to read her letter that was posted on Billboard earlier this evening. It speaks on important social problems and shines light on how amazingly strong, kindhearted, and intelligent Lauren Jauregui truly is.
