Delta Arlines Kicks Youtuber Off For Speaking Arabic — This Isn’t The First Time

On Wednesday, December 21, 2016, a video from Adam Saleh, a Yemeni YouTuber, surfaced on his Twitter

of him and his best friend, Slim Albaher, being kicked off a Delta Airlines plane for speaking Arabic. It was first brought to the attention of the flight attendants by other people, claiming they were “uncomfortable” with Saleh and Albaher being on the plane and truly believed they were threats t0 their safety. Once, the flight attendants told Saleh and Albaher they would have to leave the plane, Saleh began to record on his phone. In the video, as he is explaining the situation, you can see people in the background who complained about “fearing for their safety,” waving goodbye, sticking up their middle fingers and telling them to get off the plane. Saleh tries to argue with the people, as well as the flight attendants on why this whole situation is unfair (he is 100% correct).

A man steps in and tries to talk with the flight attendants and tells her that this is very unfair and asks, “Why do these white people complain about them speaking a different language?” The flight attendants eventually take Saleh and Albaher off the plane. However, this is not the first time Delta Airlines has been caught up in a racist ordeal.

In October, Dr. Tamika Cross, a Houston physician, was flying on a Delta Airlines plane, when a flight attendant called for a physician on the plane, due to the man being unresponsive. She raised her hand and told the flight attendant she was a physician when the flight attendant remarked: “Oh no sweetie, put your hand down, we are looking for actual physicians or nurses or some type of medical personnel, we don’t have time to talk to you.” The flight attendant asked her if she was “really a physician?” and asked to see her credentials. By then, a white male had stepped forward and the flight attendant dismissed Dr. Cross, telling her they had a man with credentials (the white doctor had not even shown the flight attendants any of his credentials).

Shortly after Dr. Cross’s situation, another female black doctor, Dr. Ashley Denmark, stepped forward and said she had a similar situation on a Delta airline when she was denied giving medical attention to a man in need. Apparently, Delta flight attendants would rather a passenger die, than for them to receive medical assistance from a person of color. As #BoycottDelta begins to trend this morning, people begin to have their own speculations, noting that #BoycottDelta had been tweeted many times before, but now the tweets are nowhere to be found. As this tweet continues to blow up and get more retweets, the more backlash and hate Delta receives–just what they truly deserve.
