Senior national security aide Craig Deare has been fired by the White House after criticizing President Trump and his administration, a senior official confirmed on Saturday. The dismissal comes after this past train wreck of a week for America’s favorite aspiring autocrat, with multiple members of his team revealed to be more involved with Russia than was previously confirmed.
Deare, who was the National Security Council’s senior director of Western Hemisphere affairs, declined to comment.
His firing, reported by Politico earlier today, was motivated by his committing of a heinous crime under the new Trump administration: disagreeing with their Dear and Beloved Leader. Deare had criticized the White House and top aides at a small gathering earlier in the week.
“You can’t be detailed to the White House and then shit on the White House,” the official confirming the circumstances said.
President Trump’s national security team is yet to be fully formed, after his main adviser’s resignation over problematic conversations with the Russian ambassador. This incoherence could not come at a more critical time for the United States. Russia has secretly deployed a cruise missile in a direct challenge to the new administration, whom they made efforts to help win.
This latest dismissal isn’t necessarily new to the troubled White House. A top Housing and Urban Development official was fired for having criticized the small-handed narcissist. The official in question, Shermichael Singleton, had written an op-ed disagreeing with Trump’s proposed vitriolic rhetoric regarding inner-cities, the police and “law and order”. He was fired this past Wednesday.
The concepts of American national security and meritocracy aside – difficult, I know – this Trump presidency is afraid. Of what?
Of us. It is afraid of the media. It is afraid of dissent. These signs are all too recognizable to an increasing body of people. The Twitter rants and podium denials will only get more desperate from here. We will continue.
