Dianne Feinstein, a top Democrat, U.S. Senator from California and “one of the longest-serving Jewish members of the Senate,” claimed that Donald Trump will resign soon in front of anti-Trump protestors at her campaign for reelection as Senator. Trump’s presidency has been riddled with questionable actions, and the Russia investigation keeps casting its shadow over his presidency. One particular protestor asked, “why more wasn’t being done by Congress to remove him from office.”
Feinstein said in response to this,
“We have a lot of people looking at this, technical people,” she said. “And I think he is going to get himself out.”
Her quote suggests that Donald Trump knows about the backlash he is getting and instead of being removed from office, will resign himself. She, however, failed to respond to whether the President has done any action worth impeachment. Though she is not the first person to suggest this, her position and prominence among liberals have many people counting on her word. She is known for being strongly opposed to the second amendment as well as being pro-choice. Despite this, there are concerns that even though she has faced wide gaps of support in her past elections as Senators, many are criticizing her for not taking a more strong opposition against Donald Trump.
Additionally, while Feinstein seems to be a credible source, (winning the Woodrow Wilson award, claiming the most popular votes in a U.S. Senator election, etc.) she has come into the spotlight in certain news outlets for her “anti-corporation rhetoric.” She has tried to present herself for fighting for the good of the common man, but her campaign has accepted money from lobbyists affiliated with companies such as Sony, Oracle, Comcast, Chevron, and JPMorgan Chase & Co, etc. So, hopefully, her word is true. However, be sure not to take it as a definite.
