When girls in Latinx culture grow up, it’s already been implanted in their minds that they have to live to cater to their partner, but these CEOs have begun to tear down the stereotype men have created on Latin women every day, showing everyone you can be a boss, a business woman, and unapologetically Latina. Melt Cosmetics has been one of the most raved brands on social media recently when their ultra pigmented and heavily saturated eye shadows and lipsticks broke the internet. The brand started off with 2 girls, one of them being Lora Arellano. She started the brand off behind counters, working as a Manager at Nordstrom. But she knew her life was leading her to a different direction, cosmetics. This Latina boss told Latina “Being la jefa means being your own boss! I don’t think we ever ‘clock out.’ Melt is such a huge part of our lives. We literally invested all our savings into the brand. The first five lipsticks took a little over a year to make before we launched it as a line. We thought it would just be a small Etsy shop. Little did we know Melt would completely change our lives.”

Rea Ann Silva is the woman responsible for creating one of the most essential tools in everybody’s makeup kit. Being in the industry for over 20 years, she’s tore down every comment society has made regarding Latina women being a sexual object over everything else. This Mexican and Portuguese powerhouse created this teardrop-shaped sponge expecting anything but the response she received. “I thought I’d be able to make a little supplemental income and sell a couple of sponges and help out with my kid’s college fund,” she told Racked. People can’t put the Beauty Blender down, many saying no other beauty sponge compares to the original.

Gabriela Hernandez does not go the Safeway when it comes to her line of cosmetics, her vintage and timeless packaging and concepts have customers hooked. Having a lipstick line ranging from nude to dark red. Her line is heavily inspired by vintage Argentine glamour, The Buenos Aires native immigrated to the United States at the young age of 12 and started Bésame as a side project in 2004. When asked, she said her line is also reminiscent of her grandma’s antique beauty products, and luxury products of the 20’s and 50’s.

The owner of Circa Beauty is no stranger to success. Cuban actress Eva Mendes owns the very affordable brand that people have begun to obsess over. Eva Mendes said she had grown up using drug store products as a kid and wanted to provide very affordable but luxurious products.  The actress told Yahoo Beauty, “I was very excited about creating a quality, prestige product available at a place like Walgreens that’s so accessible, with beautiful packaging with a variety of shade ranges—that is very important to me as a Latin woman.”
