CNN Commentator Jeffrey Lord has enraged viewers by daring to compare arguably the worst POTUS in history, Donald Trump, to the likes of civil rights activist Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., on Alisyn Camerota’s New Day program.
The former aide to President Reagan went on to dub Trump as the “Martin Luther King of healthcare”, crediting the fact that by Trump going against the views of the majority and threatening healthcare to the majority of citizens of need it; he was in fact, pulling a King.
Lord knew what he was getting himself into and acknowledged it was intentionally offensive, as he said “I know this will make Symone crazy but…” before launching into uttering the words that should never be strung together in a sentence by anyone. Ever.
Lord goes on to post on CNN regarding the issue and oddly mentions that, “I was doing the appearance via Skype, which doesn’t allow me to see the faces of those I am speaking with.” What would have been different if you could have seen them, Jeffrey? Did you have to see the reactions of your fellow panelists face to realise what response your comment could entail?

Given the chance to retract or think about his statement, Lord stuck to what he initially said, and sadly only added fuel to the fire.
On CNN’s AC360, in an attempt to clear the air, Lord said, “Donald Trump isn’t taking to the streets; he has the power of the presidency. But clearly, if he withholds payments from insurance companies, which Wall Street Journal said would result in a meltdown, that’s a crisis.” Lord points out that Trump and Dr. King share the likes of “creating a crisis to get to a negotiation”.
Well, Lord, Dr. King fought for the equality of all humans and acted as the loudspeaker for the voice of minority representation. Trump, on the other hand, is endangering the lives of his very own citizens by dangling their basic right to healthcare as if it were a dog bone. He is threatening the rights of his citizens by using them as bargaining chips to win over the Democrat party. Forgive me, if I do not see the similarities.
The new health care reform initiated by Trump is also one that stands against Planned Parenthood. The bill initially passed but Trump is well on his way to attempt unethical ways at gaining the votes of the Democrats; one of which is to threaten to stop payments to the current health care system, cutting off subsidies for the poor.
This, the same POTUS that in a recent interview with POLITICO, confused the country he dropped missiles on, citing Iraq instead of Syria. Fortunately, in the same interview, Trump remembered enough about what dessert he had right before launching the missiles. Priorities, am I right?
