“It’s nude images of boys and girls under the age of 18, but because of high-speed internet it’s also videos very prominently kids, and by kids I mean prepubescent, visibly prepubescent and they make the distinction because of the internet and there is so much content that these pedophiles are desensitized because of that the kids are getting younger and the content is getting much more devastating.”

Child pornography: the sexual exploitation of children. It’s blunt, it’s awful and it’s all something we wish we could ignore, but we can’t because it is happening right this very second it is not worlds away. It is not only in the past or only in the future. It is here and now. We all have children in our lives, like your kid, your little sibling, maybe a sweet niece. Now imagine them being exploited for the sexual pleasure of a grown adult. I’m sure you were just hit with an overwhelming sadness or rage flooded your mind, no matter what that thought is surely not a happy thing.

There are 30 to 50 million files a day traded at the least. It is sad to think that those kinds of awful things are being traded and bought and made for someone to get a sick twisted sexual pleasure out of it, but all kids are at risk. Nearly 90% of children who have been sexually exploited or violated in any sort of way know their abuser. It’s someone you all know, and someone you would not expect. Not only that, but 78% of children in the videos and or images are under the age of 12. Approximately 63% of those children were under 8 years of age. Among that same material, they found that 80.42% of the children were girls, while 19.58% were boys. Because they are so young and traumatized or scared they don’t speak up only 10% of children actually do. Its all very sad, but what is worse is the average pedophile abused anywhere from 50 to 100 kids in there life. Between 55% and 90% of people watching child porn are or will become abusers themselves.

25% is produced by a neighbor or family friend
18% stemming from online enticement
We need to do something to ensure that this doesn’t continue and ensure that the sweet, innocent, beautiful children in our lives get to enjoy their innocent, get to play with toys or learn to ride their bikes out front with their parents. We need to ensure a happy childhood for every little child because after all, they’re our future.
