Gold medalist McKayla Maroney is among the 140 women, including fellow Olympians Aly Raisman, Gabby Douglas and Simone Biles, who have been abused by former U.S.A. Gymnastics team doctor, Larry Nassar. Between Tuesday and Thursday, 88 women are expected to give victim impact statements in court. However, Maroney may be fined $100,000 if she is to speak about her accusations of abuse against Nassar.
In 2016, Maroney settled a lawsuit against U.S.A. Gymnastics and reportedly received $1.25 million in the settlement. USA Gymnastics has stated that “Contrary to reports, the concept of confidentiality was initiated by McKayla’s attorney, not USA Gymnastics.” By announcing to the public that she was abused by Nassar from the age of 13, up until she retired in 2016, Maroney has technically already violated the nondisclosure agreement, but it is unclear whether or not USA Gymnastics will go through with fining her.
Either way, Maroney has been backed by Chrissy Teigen, as the model tweeted this earlier today:
The entire principle of this should be fought – an NDA to stay quiet about this serial monster with over 140 accusers, but I would be absolutely honored to pay this fine for you, McKayla. pic.twitter.com/lsBEgEqZpD

In December, a federal judge sentenced Nassar to 60 years in prison, for possessing images of child pornography. This week, Nassar will be sentenced in a Michigan federal court on seven counts of criminal sexual assault, to which he pleaded guilty over a year ago.
